Oh and think about where you'll have it and how easy it would be to get in and out of the bag and still have the closure be secure enough for your needs. Are you traveling mostly by plane or by car? For example, I like to have my laptop and essentials with a scarf or vest (in case it gets cold) in a carry-on and keep it under the seat in front of me so I can get to things easily during the flight. Because you COULD get grease under those seats (happened to me once but I had an old, old leather bag so it was OK), you don't want anything too nice. And I used to think zippers were best for keeping things from dropping out, but I have found my favorite travel bag to be one where the flap secures with a single quick closure because it was easy to open and close with the limited space to move in an airplane seat.

I don't know these but based on owning too many bags here are my thoughts ... light colored bags get dirty and it's always more difficult trying to find things in a deep bag.
