GIRLS OF THETA HOUSE-
Alaska de Sauveterre
Collab with the beautiful @chrissykinz
monday 22nd of october, 2012; Time to get your green on and help out at the local garden centre.
I continued to plant the carrot seeds in the soil; everyone seemed to have a specific job to do or was occupied by conversation. I stood, I was surprised my back wasn't aching, I had never been one for sports and as a result I was a tad unfit. It was a great day, the sun was shining and there was a cool breeze; it was perfect weather for thinking.
"Ally, hey, Ally" Aria's voice dragged me from my blissful day dreaming and path of thought. "Earth to Ally" she grinned, waving her hand in front of my face. I shook my head, bringing me back to reality entirely. "Hm?" I replied.
"How you going?" Aria questioned. To be honest, I was a little surprised by her question. I'm sure she knew how I was coping, was it necessary to question it? By questioning it, reminded me of how embarrassed and angry I was. I shrugged casually, not giving a verbal answer.
"What's that mean?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. I shrugged again, not on purpose, "I'm alright" I said, faking a smile. "Perfectly alright" I said, sounding as awkward as ever. Oh, welcome back, awkward Ally! I missed you dearly.
"You're lying" Aria said, helping me with the carrot seeds. We were both on our knees, our knees becoming covered in soil. "This is Liam's ultimate dream" she sound to nobody in particular; she had a habit of thinking out loud. "TMI" I shook my head.
"Can you talk?" Aria let out a small laugh, I raised an eyebrow. What was she talking about? "You're the one who openly discussed going further in your relationship with Scott" she spoke as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"1. I was talking to Grace about it privately, and 2. your boyfriend was snooping" I said quietly, not daring to look up. I feared her response, it didn't help that there was a silence that settled between us. "I'm sorry, Ally" Aria said, shocking me yet again.
I looked up at her with wide eyes, "I didn't mean to seem, uh, snobby" she said. "But to be honest, Ally, it's something that just happens, you can't plan it." Why must I be given the sex advice? Go talk to Scott about it or something.
"I've tried once" Aria said frowning at an unforgiving memory. "But that was just painful" she added, shaking her head, almost to disgard the thought.
"Do I even want to know?" I asked a hint of a smile on my face. "Probably not" Aria said with a laugh, "But it's not the point. I will talk to you because we both know we are the mature one's in our relationships."
"I like to think I'm that mature one" I stated, smiling softly, glancing toward the guys who had mud smudged on their cheeks and were shoving each other. Aria and I knew they were going to end up in the garden, rolling around in a mini brawl. But lets face it, they both couldn't do any damage to each other.
"Trust me, we are" Aria reassured me, shaking her head at the boys. You couldn't take them anywhere without them making a fool of themselves. "Actually, we are by far the most mature" she added quickly, Liam had Scott in a head lock.
"What'd you want to talk about?" I asked, though I don't know if deep down I wanted to know. Especially if we had begun on that note. "A couple of things" Aria paused, smiling gently. "Well, first of all, you can't be angry at Liam forever. You know you love him dearly and he means well" she spoke. All I could do was nod slightly, I had nothing to say to him right now.
"You can't be angry forever" she nudged me lightly in the ribs. "It wasn't right to do what he did" I replied quietly, looking down at my hands. "I've just needed time away from him, what he did hurt" I finished. Aria wrapped an arm around me, kissing me on the forehead.
"And secondly" she paused yet again, "are you really ready?" Aria asked, a hint of excitement in her voice. This girl was full of surprises today. "I mean, this is exciting, no?" she added.
"Aria this is uncomfortable" I said with a convincing frown. Aria rolled her eyes, "Ally. Are you seriously ready?"
"Yes" I nodded, standing up quickly. "Why must you question my decisions?" I asked quietly, trying to hide my hurt. It made me feel as if I was back at home. But then again, nobody cared enough to question me. "I'm mature and you don't give me credit for it" I added.
"It's been, what, a month?" Aria replied, standing and making sure I couldn't pass her if I tried to escape. "You could barely stand to hear Liam and I talking to you a while back, let alone doing the deed" she said, matching my quiet tone.
"I understand you're looking out for me-" I began, pausing. "I don't want you thinking you have to because of him" she said, nodding her head toward Scott.
"When did you first sleep together? You and Liam" I raised an eyebrow. Hm, I'm not sure if she enjoyed me turning the conversation around.
"Liam and I are very different to you and Scott, so the comparison would be irrelevant" Aria said, shifting on her feet.
"How so?" I asked tilting my head curiously.
"Well it wasn't like we were the first ..." Aria said trailing off. "It's just different."
"Well, how did you know you were ready with Liam then?"
"I just did."
"That's isn't really an answer, Aria" I chimed.
"It is so, now, lets end it here" Aria crossed her arms over her chest, I could tell she was forcing a smile. I could play this game too, y'know. I had a feeling Aria didn't think I'd take that particular to step though. "Then you can stop questioning whether I'm ready" I had to stop myself from smiling; it was one of my only proud victory's.
"Just don't make a fool of yourself" Aria advised as we walked inside the community centre. "Thank-you?" I wasn't sure if it was helpful or not. I wasn't prone to making a fool of myself, was I? No, I think she had me confused with Liam or Scott.
"Did you make a fool of yourself?" I questioned, forcing a grin off my face.
"What while having sex?" Aria said raising an eyebrow at me. "Oh yeah that is why Liam and I keep 'practising'" she said sarcastically.
I took that as a sign to get back into my cozy little hole, "I'm sorry" I apologised; I had a feeling that I might have hit a nerve or crossed my boundaries. It didn't make sense to cross my boundaries though. "I have to go to the bathroom" I lied.
"Ally" she sighed, "don't take my sarcasm seriously" she added.
"Are you sure that was sarcasm?" I asked looking down a little.
"Positive" Aria said with a smile.
