  • herman miller Nelson Swag Leg Work Table
    shopgrounded.com
The classic Nelson swag leg table has a clean, simple look that's a fresh today as when George Nelson designed it 50 years ago. The rectangular work table has solid walnut stretcher with either a walnut veneer top or white laminate top with a walnut edge. The chromed legs feature adjustable glides. George Nelson began with the legs, insisting that they be made of metal, machine formed, and prefinished. And beautiful. He wanted that graceful curve. He also wanted them to be easy for the consumer to assemble, so the desk and tables could be shipped knocked down to save on costs. This series of furniture is named for the process that creates the distinctive legs. George Nelson started with this idea: "Wouldn't it be beautiful to have some kind of sculptured leg on a piece of furniture?" How could that be done without wood and hand-carving tools? Using pressure to taper and curve a metal tube--the process called swaging--proved to be the best way to produce the legs. Dimensions: 54"l | 36"w | 29.38"h.

  • English Classics Furniture Antique Style 6×3 Walnut Partners Desk
    english-classics.net
This exquisite burl walnut partners desk was recently hand-crafted in England by a master craftsman. Perfect for use in any home or office furniture collection, the two-sided design creates a large amount of storage and a beautiful, spacious work area. The two sides of this desk are identical. On the left are a computer cabinet and a drawer; in the center is a keyboard drawer; on the right are two drawers and a file drawer. Each drawer and cabinet locks with one of several antique style skeleton keys that accompany this desk. As a result, two people may comfortably sit on either side of this walnut partners desk, which is every bit as functional as it is beautiful. The wood used in this pedestal desk is a rich selection of burl walnut bordered by walnut crossbanding on the drawer fronts. The wood has been treated to an elaborate, seven-step finishing process that ended in a fine coat of hand-rubbed wax, which helps flesh out and preserve the natural beauty of the walnut. The top is inlaid with three panels of green leather bordered by embossing and gold tooling. Together, the walnut and green leather make a remarkable pair and would complement any office furniture collection. In addition to the impressive beauty and functionality of this desk, it is also incredibly sturdy. The underlying structure is thick, solid wood, while the pedestal design itself is based on a centuries-old design that has shown itself to be a reliable method for constructing firm, durable desks. As a result, this walnut partners desk will last for generations to come–just like all true heirloom furniture should.
  • English Classics Furniture Burl Walnut Pedestal Desk with Green Leather
    english-classics.net
Hand-crafted in England by a third-generation cabinetmaker, this remarkably beautiful walnut pedestal desk offers a supreme combination of beauty and function. It is fitted with an assortment of storage areas with an optional modesty panel and green leather paneling. Beginning with the pedestal design itself, this desk offers a suite of convenient options. Like all desks of its kind, the desktop on this piece simply sits on top of the pedestals, fitting snugly around a border of square blocks. This makes the desk easy to set up and transport for two able-bodied people. Three standard drawers, a keyboard drawer, a file drawer that fits legal- and letter-sized files, and a computer cabinet provide a great deal of storage space. All of them lock with an accompanying set of skeleton keys. With such convenience it is little wonder that the design of walnut pedestal desks like this one has remained so constant over the centuries. As beautiful as it is useful, this desk is crafted with a remarkable selection of burl walnut. World-renowned for its distinctive swirling grain and rich complexion, the wood does not disappoint! Walnut crossbanding adorns the drawer and cabinet fronts as well, providing elegant contrast. A trio of dark green leather panels, each bordered by hand-worked gold tooling, has been inlaid into the desktop. Solid brass swan neck pulls and escutcheons adorn the face of the desk. Finally, the ogee feet are as attractive as they are sturdy. This Georgian antique style is ideal for any period furniture collection. This walnut pedestal desk is not simply a remarkable example of English craftsmanship, it is a true heirloom quality piece. Far superior to carelessly made or mass-manufactured products, every detail was placed in this desk by expert hands. From the solid wood structure, to the thick burl walnut veneers, to even the hardware itself–which was forged in England from solid brass–every material was superbly chosen and refined. Such hand-crafted items are sure to last for many decades to come, so they are every bit an investment as much as they are exquisite museum-quality pieces. This walnut pedestal desk is sure to serve its owner well and be passed down through the generations!
