  • Knoll Saarinen Coffee Table - Arabescato Marble
    hivemodern.com
Design Eero Saarinen, 1956. Aluminum base, marble top. Made by Knoll. In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. "The underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world," explained Saarinen. "I wanted to clear up the slum of legs." In his pedestal collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award. Construction notes: Base is constructed from molded cast aluminum polished and coated in tough, abrasion-resistant rilsan finish (black & white). Platinum bases consist of a highly resilient polyurethane enamel wet coat with a clear satin finish. Marble tops are .75" thick with a beveled-edge. * Coated marble tops: transparent, high-polish, polyester coating to help prevent use-associated stains. * Satin coated marble tops: transparent satin polyester coating to prevent use-associated stains. The satin finish gives the stone a natural, honed appearance while providing the same protection as coated marbles. * Natural marble & natural granite tops: sealer to protect stone from aging & staining. Sealer has to be renewed periodically. Small: 13.75" h | 20" dia. Medium: 15.25" h | 35.75" dia. Oval: 15.25" h | 41.25" L | 27.5" w.

  • Fritz Hansen Kaiser Idell Small Table Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Christian Dell, 1931. Steel & brass. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. The Kaiser idell™ collection is available in different versions: Table, wall, floor lamps and pendants. Kaiser idell is an original Bauhaus design. The series is based on a world-patented swivel joint and the characteristic dome embossed with "ORIGINAL KAISER-idell". Beginning in 1926 Dell sketched lights, often for the lamp factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co. The first catalogue was launched in 1936 in which the table lamp model 6631 Luxus appeared for the first time. This lamp soon became the undisputed top model of the KAISER idell™ series - then, as well as today, the symbol of noble Germanic design, exquisite choice of materials and precise engineering. Christian Dell was a German silversmith and designer. From 1922-25 he worked as foreman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar where he was the man behind a highly innovative and pioneering style of design. The Bauhaus occupies a place of its own in the history of the 20th century culture; architecture, design, art and new media. As one of the first colleges of design, it brought together a number of the most outstanding contemporary architects and artists. The lamps are made in steel and brass and the lampshades are hand painted in high gloss. The chrome-plated lamp elements consist of hand polished and silver-soldered brass. The term "iddll" is a reference to the word idea and his lastname, Dell. "Kaiser" is a reference to the original manufacturer - KAISER idell. Small table lamp: 10" h | shade: 5.7" dia. | Base: 5.4" dia. | Requires 1x40W E26 bulb.

  • Mater Dome Table Lamp - White
    shophorne.com
"Best table lamp 2009", Wallpaper* Magazine, London. "The dome lamp is an iconic representation of 'what is light'. Light eminates evenly in a 360 degree pattern from its source (such as in the case with the sun) so therefore the most honest approach toward the design of a lamp to me was a spherical solution. The design is essentially a 'globe' form 'hollowed out' to allow the light to distribute. Such a mathematical solution enables the design to be timeless and familiar however completely new in approach as it is more of an engineering solution than a fashion based one". Todd Bracher, designer. The spun aluminum dome table lamp is produced in a Danish factory together with skilled craftsmen. Uses 2x max 60 w bulbs (not included). We recommend energy saver bulbs. Ships assembled.
