Okay this is my first tip and I'm doing it for a contest to get into a tip group.
Okay, I can make as many tips as needed per week, but I probably won't do more than 5. I get on Polyvore at least everyday. I'm 14, and I want to be part of the collab because I guess the idea seems sort of fun and I've never been in a tip group before.
Okay now for the actual tip~
-How to clean your TOMS-
What's not to like about TOMS? They're comfy, simple, stylish, and for every pair you buy a child and need gets a pair as well. But wearing them a lot can wear them out and make them stinky.
The TOMS website says that the best way to wash your TOMS is to hand wash them in cold water with gentle detergent and to let them air dry.
-Do NOT put your TOMS in the dryer, it may cause them to fade and it's just not good for the shoe.
Since hand washing might not be the quickest way, here's what you should do if you're going to machine wash them:
-Use a soft bristle brush to remove any dirt from the surface of the shoe
-Put your wahsing machine on the most gentle cycle and make sure the water is COLD
-When the machine is half full, add a small amount of gentle detergent (note, when washing your TOMS, be GENTLE with them)
-When the machine is 3/4 full, add the shoes.
There are a few ways to dry your shoes, the best way is to sun dry them. That way they don't get torn up in the dryer and the sunlight actually kills foot bacteria that might be growing in them. Putting a dyer sheet in your TOMS also makes them smell nicer when they're air drying. But if you do machine dry them, make sure to put them on the most gentle cycle and with no heat.
If you're going to handwash your TOMS (which is reccomended) here's what you should do.
-Use a soft bristle brush to remove any dirt from the surface of the shoe.
-Put some cold water into a bucket, along with a little bit of unconcentrated dish soap. You want just enough soap that it bubbles a little bit
-Dip your brush into the water, and make sure that the dirt from the brush is gone, then put your hand inside of the shoe and wash it until you're satisfied. then air dry
That's my first tip! Hope it was helpful ^_^
