Good Day Everyone, Mollie @vintage-heart92 here:

I've had a request for this tip, i understand a lot of people are so shy about the relationship or annoyed that other people get involved so im here to help...

Heres some top tips:

1. Compromise! This may seem like an obvious suggestion, but you would be surprised at how many refuse to do this regularly. Being unable to compromise is a huge obstacle, and is often down to pure arrogance and self-importance.

2. Listen. Again, perhaps an obvious choice, but listening well is imperative, and something a lot of people do not do properly. Listening is an active thing, just sitting there and letting it wash over you just will not do.

3. Accept that men and women are different. If you are in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex, you are going to have to except that men and women are just wired differently. I obviously cannot delve into this fact in great detail here, but the phrases “bloody women” and “you men are all pigs” should never be uttered in a happy, equal relationship. Look at the person and their faults, not their sex.

4. Be patient. Everyone is difficult at times. Learning to be patient will defuse so many arguments. Being impatient will cause many, many more.

5. Let the little things go. So what if your partner makes an annoying noise when they brush their teeth – you need to get over it. They cannot change who they are, and you giving yourself a stomach ulcer through frustration over it is not productive.

6. Do not let others encroach on your relationship. Other people will always have an opinion on your relationship, but that does not mean you have to pay any attention to it. If you are both happy then who cares? Other people’s negative comments can eat away at your relationship like a cancer, if you let them.

7. Keep it physical. Obviously sex is important, but other ways of being physically affectionate are just as important. Make time to enjoy kisses, cuddles, the odd foot rub and the like. We are all physical beings, and being close is very important throughout your relationship.

8. Spend time apart. No matter how much you love each other, you must both remain your own person. Spend time separately with friends, with your own family, and have your own interests. Because the old adage is quite true: a bit of absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
