Blue, green and all shades in between reflect and illume the watercolor tones of sun-drenched seas in this stunning example of Murano glass. Renowned for exceptional glass-working techniques, Murano artists press layers of hot molten glass into a single piece of glass that is then molded with graceful angles and organic rim. A special finish is applied and fired at high temperatures to create its luminous surface. The Murano glass tradition dates back hundreds of years, infusing ancient techniques with innovative design and exceptional color.

  • CB2 The Hill-Side Tokkuri Vase
    cb2.com
Made in japan. This ceramic vase was designed exclusively for CB2 in collaboration with The Hill-Side. Brooklyn-based menswear designers, and brothers, Emil and Sandy Corsillo are known for high-quality workwear fabrics and patterns with a hint of heritage. Together with their unmistakable urban aesthetic, the duo creates a fresh vibe that's somehow both equally hip and timeless. Take this "tokkuri" vase — modeled after a traditional Japanese sake carafe, rooted in authentic Japanese design and techniques — just like The Hill-Side itself. Made with meticulous detail, the vessel is hand-thrown and glazed in Mashiko, Japan by artist Taro Endo. Starting with all-natural, local materials, the clay is hand-thrown then dipped in a glossy white glaze that allows flecks of the natural clay to show through. Finally, distinctive cobalt stripes are hand-painted on the vase, making each piece unique. Flip it over and you'll find the The Hill-Side's logo stamped on the base. To learn how The Hill-Side translated their menswear aesthetic to home decor, head to Idea Central. Details and Dimensions: The Hill-Side tokkuri vase. 4.5" Dia. X 7.25"H. Designed exclusively for CB2 by The Hill-Side. Hand-painted by artist Taro Endo. Hand-thrown earthenware. Each will be unique. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Made in Japan. • Tse & Tse Vase D'Avril - Small
    shophorne.com
The Vase d'Avril is made up of twenty-one glass tubes and twenty metal fixtures which interlock. When the components are assembled, you can arrange them into various shapes and forms. From this starting point, you are able to rearrange the vase into numerous positions. As a contrast in forms, after removing one of the tubes from the chain, the two tail-ends can be joined to create a ring. The tubes may be independently detached from the suite in order to create autonomous segments. In this fashion, the vase can be shortened; or, by easily attaching two or more vases together, any extended length can be achieved. To transport the vase from sink to mantlepiece, and/or to arrange your bouquet, it is best to firmly bundle the vase wholly assembled with both hands. The Vase d'Avril is made of glass and steel coated with zinc. After using it in water, the metal gets oxidized: a "white rust" veil appears. Length: 21.7" Height: 3.90" - Zinc coated metal frame, 21 blown glass tube.

  • Iittala - Aalto Vase Finlandia
    connox.com
Glass Vase by Alvar Aalto With the Finlandia collection, Iittala completed the Savoy series. Nearly identic in its shape, but higher than the original and slightly tapered going downwards, the Finlandia Vase is especially suitable for large flower bouquets and long flowers. Whereas many European designers exalted the revolution of the machines, Scandinavian artists turned to nature. Alvar Aalto was one of the trend-setters with his Savoy vase including the typical organic Aalto forms – waves – that also appeared in the shape of the walls of the Finnish pavilion at the World Exposition in New York in 1939, in the architecture of the Schauspielhaus in Duesseldorf, in armchairs, Spanish walls, tea-wagons, etc. Aalto was convinced that design had to be human in all its details. On Iittala’s request, Alvar Aalto created the Aalto vase in different shapes, sizes and colours for the World Exposition in Paris in 1937. Alvar Aalto was the son of a cartographer – maybe the shapes of the vase are based on Finnish landscapes and lakes. The timeless Aalto vase ranks among the most famous glass objects of the world; it is a synonym for Finnish glass art and the manufacturer Iittala. The Savoy vase is currently being exhibited in the most important design museums. Also in our blog: 80Th Anniversary of the Aalto Vase: Glass Art Makes History Alvar Aalto - Second Nature

  • Iittala Emerald Green Glass Aalto Vase
    chairish.com
Finnish designer Alvar Aalto first showed this uniquely wavy vase at the World's Fair in 1937 - the shape caused an instant sensation. Nearly 80 years later, the "Aalto" is still a best seller for renowned glass manufacturer Iittala, proving that good design never goes out of style. Its shape has been the subject of much speculation - some say it is based on Aalto's sketches entitled, "The Eskimo Woman's Leather Breeches", while others believe that it was inspired by the lines of the Finnish landscape. Either way, the vessel's organic form is not only captivating but lends itself perfectly to arranging flowers. Each lead-free crystal piece is mouth-blown into a mold and hand-polished by skilled craftsmen in the Iittala factory. The emerald color will only be produced in 2016.

  • Iittala Alvar Aalto Vase 120mm

Alvar Aalto famously never dictated how his iconic glass vases should be used. It was his belief that the owner should decide. Perhaps it is this freedom to interpret that has helped the Alvar Aalto Collection remain both timeless and fresh. The Aalto vase is one of the most iconic glassware pieces in modern Scandinavian design. First created in 1936, it wasn’t until the following year that it gained world recognition when it was debuted by Iittala at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair. Today, it takes a team of seven skilled craftsmen working as one to create one mouth-blown Aalto vase. H: 120mm.
