I sigh some, great here I was making a fool of myself again. I really needed to learn to be more careful. "Are you sure? I mean I know these shoes could probably do some damage seeing as they're spiked and all."
The blonde just smiles back at me politely, shaking her head. "No, no.. I'm fine, really." She insists, smiling even more at me, as if to prove her point.
I nod some, glancing down before I look back up at the girl. She looked oddly familiar to me. "Have we met before..?" I decide to just go ahead and ask.
The girl obviously hesitates before speaking. "Well, uhm.. no not really." She starts saying, and only continues after I give her a look. "I mean, not formally I guess is what I'm trying to say."
"What do you mean by 'not formally'?" I ask, running my fingers through my hair and taking a step up in the apple cider line.
"You knocked on my door last week when you were drunk and kissed me...." She says kind of sheepishly. I could just be seeing things, but I could swear I saw a hint of red on cheeks, meaning the girl had blushed at the thought.
I laugh some, "Oh, well... sorry about that." I say, shrugging some. "Hopefully I was a good kisser. I've been known to be a bit sloppy when drunk." I say offering her a smile. The girl just nods some. Was I making her uncomfortable or something?
"I'm Marah, by the way." I say, holding my hand out for her.
She waits a moment before taking my hand and shakes it weakly. "I'm Hope."
"Nice to meet you." I say, smiling, noticing Hope's gaze move. I watch her a moment, noticing her watch this guy. He's tall and has long floppy hair. He's pretty attractive.
"Do you know him?" I ask after a second or two.
"What? Oh, no, no..." She says, shaking her head.
"You should go over and say hi." I suggest, smiling at her.
"No, no... I couldn't do that. It'd just be awkward." She says softly, looking down at her feet. I wait a moment, looking between her and that guy. His friends had walked away, and he was standing there alone, playing on his phone. An idea pops into my mind.
I wait before I grab Hope's hand, pulling her with me out of the apple cider line."You can thank me for this later, and let me know how this goes, yeah?"
"What do yo-" She starts to ask, but before she can finish, I bump into the tall brunette.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I really need to be more careful." I lie, looking up the guy. He smiles, looking at me before looking over at Hope. I couldn't help but notice his smile grow a bit more when looking at her.
"Don't worry about it. It's fine. No harm was done here." He says, looking back at me.
I nod. "I'm Marah, by the way." I say, flashing him a smile.
"I'm Moses, nice to meet you." He says, glancing over at Hope, who is just kind of there shocked. I mean, maybe this was too much after formally meeting the girl, but sometimes getting shellshocked is good for you. I nudge her with my elbow, making her jolt back to reality.
"Oh, uhm, I'm Hope." She says, smiling.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Moses says, holding his hand out. I smile some, deciding this is a perfect opportunity for me to slip aside.
"If you'll excuse me, I just saw someone I need to talk to." I say, smiling. "I'll talk to you later, okay, Hope? And it was a pleasure meeting you, Moses." I say, giving them both a wave and slipping away.
Before I'm out of earshot, I can hear the two of them strike up a conversation, seemingly unforced. The guy seemed charming enough, and maybe I wasn't in a place to be saying things like this, but I think that girl needed a charming guy to help her a long.
I shove my hands into my pockets of my sweater, smiling to myself as I walk away. Nothing like a good deed to get my mind off the s.hit I had on my mind.
[ugh sorry about this ending. I'll elaborate more on what Marah's going through next time too. It'll be fun. :p ]
