  • Tumblr Tuesday Codi Ann Thomsen
    More info
We’re always scouring Tumblr for up-and-coming artists, photographers and interesting people to follow. On Tumblr Tuesdays we dig a little deeper, introducing you to a new person whose point-of-view we’re reblogging this week. Meet Codi Ann Thomsen, a photographer and the owner of West Heritage, a project of Codi's that specializes in collaborating and creating stories with smaller, independent brands. Currently residing in Louisiana, Codi has plans to relocate to Sacramento, CA for a new job opportunity and the permanent warm weather. We're loving the photos from her travels, and are excited to keep tabs on the young artist as she makes the move out west. See below for a few of our favorite snaps from Codi and make sure to follow along with her journey on Instagram. 'One of the many things I have in progress (truthfully losing track at this point) is to share this process as I keep working at my craft and my own somewhat crooked self-perception. If I’ve learned anything these past few weeks, it’s that we grow the most by leaning into what’s uncomfortable.' Melody, Lake Michigan 'However inevitably unsteady, good things ahead, always. • Thursday Tip-Off Get Pampered
    More info
Our Thursday Tip-Off series is a weekly set of tips, suggestions, and tricks for making you a better-informed person. You're welcome. With the weekend almost upon us, it's the perfect time to start planning out a relaxing bath to help leave the troubles of the work week behind us, and to help us feel as pampered as a Kardashian. Here are a few of our favorite tips and tricks for creating the ultimate soothing bathtime atmosphere. (Hint: it involves Enya. And imagining you're a Kardashian.) Photo by @simply_kenna 1. First, set the mood by grabbing a few of your favorite things to relax with. A bath pillow is a must if you want to really lounge and can be found in most drugstores. To give yourself that spa glow, light some candles around the tub. Any candles with a lavender scent are obviously a go-to for relaxation, while pine and vanilla scents can also help de-stress. We also like having a backup copy of our favorite novel for the bathroom that we don't mind getting a little wet. (Because no matter how careful we are, the pages always get crinkled.) 2. Pop your phone out of harm's way and quietly play some soothing music. For ultimate spa vibes, we totally recommend The Very Best of Enya. And no, we aren't kidding. If one of your favorite movies has an awesome score, this is a great time to put it on and soak it in. (This is also a good time to give classical music a shot if you're looking to branch out. Great for studying and bathtime since it helps the brain focus and quiet down.) Recommended products: Buddy Scrub Activated Charcoal Body Scrub (leaves skin smooth and moisturized) Babe Babescrub (the pink sea salt relaxes and detoxes... plus, it's pink!) Herbivore Botanicals Coconut Milk Bath Soak (softens skin and smells great) Aquarian Soul Bath Soak Vial (natural ingredients and looks amazing) Salt Trade Bath Infusion Tea (bathing with flowers!) PF Candle Co Soy Candle (Campfire is our favorite, most relaxing scent) Photo by @themoptop 3. Using a scrub (like one of these!) will not only help you relax, but will also get rid of any sad, dry winter skin that you may still have. If you're looking to really slough off some dead skin, use a body brush or an exfoliating washcloth as well. Just make sure that you've been soaking in a warm bath for at least 15-20 minutes before attempting to use these - if your skin hasn't been in the water long enough, it won't remove dead skin properly and may even hurt. 4. Bath salts and bath teas are two more essentials that help make the most of your bathtime. If you've had a particularly rough week and feel achy, bath salts are great for helping to relieve muscle pain, and can help your body start to feel normal again. 5. Finally, turn off the lights so you can deeply relax. (Make sure it's not pitch black, though. You don't want to Final Destination yourself and trip over the bathmat headfirst into the toilet.) If you can't get your bathroom totally dark, throw a couple of cucumbers over your eyes to drive the whole spa experience home. Since we're in the future, there are even cute, pre-moistened 'slice' masks that mimic the cucumber experience without requiring you to go out and chop up a cucumber. The magic of beauty. Simply pop a couple on, kick back, and relax. Enjoy! Photo by Lee Vosburgh Photo by @tezzamb To see more bathtime inspiration, follow UO Beauty on Instagram Shop Bath + Body
