  • Classicon De Stijl Table
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Eileen Gray, 1922. Multiplex, solid beech, MDF. Made in Germany by Classicon. This versatile side table was one of Eileen Gray's favorite pieces and stood in her living room up to the time of her death. In 1922 she showed it in Amsterdam at an exhibition of French art. It was no surprise that the small table attracted the attention of the "de Stijl" architects. The sculptural quality, the use of colour and the logical design are all features of de Stijl. Eileen Gray used it as a tea table. But even in an entrance area or as a night table beside a bed, this solitaire is a spectacular object which takes on surprising new appearances from whatever angle it is viewed. In the 1920's and 30's, Irish artist Eileen Gray was one of the pioneers who created what we now call modern design. The lone woman in this pioneering Valhalla, her name is pronounced in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. Her tubular steel furniture was revolutionary in its day, and is now accepted as classic. In the second stage of her creative career, Eileen Gray switched to architecture and continued producing masterpieces. She was an artist of epoch-making significance. Her career culminated in 1972 with her appointment by the Royal Society of Art in London, as Royal Designer to Industry. And her legendary Adjustable Table E 1027 has been added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1978. Authorized by The World Licence Holder Aram Designs Ltd, London. De Stijl features Multiplex and beech construction with black and white satin gloss lacquer. 32.3" h | 25.2" w | 24.4" d | assembly required.
  • Classicon Bonaparte Lounge Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Eileen Gray, 1935. Steel tubing, beech, rubber, upholstery. Made in Germany by Classicon. Bonaparte is one of the seldom cases in which the luxurious comfort of an upholstered chair has been successfully united with a tubular steel construction. The result communicates both ease and convenience. Actually conceived as a piece for drawing rooms, Eileen Gray found Bonaparte so pleasant that she used it for decades as her desk chair in her Paris home at Rue Bonaparte. In the 1920's and 30's, Irish artist Eileen Gray was one of the pioneers who created what we now call modern design. The lone woman in this pioneering Valhalla, her name is pronounced in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. • Fritz Hansen Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Arne Jacobsen, 1958. Aluminum, foam, upholstery. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. In 1958, Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. This organically shaped chair has since become synonymous with Danish furniture design throughout the world. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces, and the Egg - with or without ottoman - is ideal for lounge and waiting areas as well as the home. The Egg originated in Arne Jacobsen's garage - cast in plaster. Today the synthetic shell is padded with cold foam and covered with fabric or different types of leather resting on a star-shaped aluminium base. Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. His cooperation with Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. The Ant and Series 7 chairs, produced in 1952, propelled both Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen's names into furniture history. At the end of the 50's Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which introduced the Egg, the Swan, the Swan sofa and Series 3300 to the design world. Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. His furniture and other design work have become a national and international heritage. The shell of the Egg is of polyurethane foam with fiberglass reinforcement. The shell has an adjustable tilt which can be adjusted to the weight of the individual user. The base consists of a satin-polished, welded steel tube and a 4-star base in injection molded aluminium. The Egg may be upholstered with fabric or leather and is also available with an automatic return mechanism. egg chair: 33.8" w | 31.1" d | 42" h | seat: 14.5" h.
  • Hella Jongerius polder sofa
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Hella Jongerius, 2005 Wooden frame, upholstery, natural buttons. Made in Germany by Vitra With the quiet irony typical for her work, Hella Jongerius named her new sofa for Vitra, Polder. In Holland, Polder refers to the artificial land reclaimed from the sea by means of dykes and drainage canals. The body of the Polder sofa is just as low-lying, just as flat, and has just as much emphasis on the horizontal as does the Dutch landscape. For it, Hella Jongerius chose five carefully selected combinations of colors and fabric qualities, accentuating them with high-tech threads and large buttons. This play with colours and textures underscores the asymmetry of the piece, and together with the large buttons decorating the cushions are unmistakable trademarks of the Polder Sofa. Made of natural materials like bone and mother of pearl, the buttons are sewn to the cushions with bold broad cross stitches. Through the selection of the threads, Hella Jongerius creates a contrast of colours that further enhances the distinctiveness of this design feature. The Polder sofa is available in your choice of three sizes and five fabric colors. You can also pick the postition of the armrest. When facing the sofa the armrest can be placed on the left or the right side. • Vitra Alcove Highback Sofa
    SOLD OUT: More info
Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2008. Chromed steel, metal frame, fiberglass reinforced plastic, polyurethane foam, polyester wool. Made in Germany by Vitra. The central idea behind the Alcove sofa is that a sofa can be much more than just a piece of furniture. This is especially true of the Alcove Highback sofa, whose side and back panels tower over the heads of those sitting in it. Sitting within the Alcove Highback, you cannot be seen or heard from the outside, and find yourself in a secluded space. Thanks to the outstanding acoustic qualities of the Alcove Highback sofa and its function as a visual screen, it creates a truly peaceful oasis - especially in spacious living areas. This effect is even more pronounced when two sofas are positioned face to face, thereby defining a room within a room. The Alcove Ottoman is a comfortable complement. The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery.
