what: ‘lala land’ movie premiere
when: august eighth
place: chinese theatre
attire: red carpet
other: it’s the premiere of millie’s new movie – about struggling actors, go figure. come out to support her, and to be seen on this month’s hottest red carpet. the after party will be at the Shangri-la in santa monica, and is sure to kick on into the morning.
I can honestly say that I don’t remember the red carpet, or Millie’s movie at all. But I lied and told everyone that it was “unbelievable, and I’m so proud of my friends Millie and Ryan for making such an amazing and powerful movie,” just as I was coached.
To be honest – something I’m not, ever – I was bored of going to Hollywood premieres and red carpet events (unless they were about me). I just wanted to get stoned and go to my favorite underground club. Maybe even catch up with Carson – something I could never do in public because that would be just too scandalous for the world to handle!
Shangri-la is my second favorite place in Santa Monica.
The first? Kent’s house. It is always crawling with crazy people.
Unsurprisingly, the only person who’s eye happen to catch at Shangri-la is Carson. He makes his way over to me, slowly as ever, and gives me time to bolt to the nearest couple standing around – Millie and Link.
“So did you really like the movie?”
I nod, “It was amazing. Honestly.”
“That’s so sweet.”
“So are you two ever going to do a movie together?”
Link spoke up, “I would love to share the screen with this one someday.”
Before I could answer the robotic, paparazzi loving machine that is Lincoln, Carson interrupted and asked if he could speak to me in private.
Millie raised her eyebrows in surprise? Disgust? I don’t know – Carson pulled me away before I could figure it out.
“Aren’t you supposed to be Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor? What are you doing bothering me?”
Carson shrugs, “There’s something about you.”
“Is it because I can put my leg behind my head? ‘Cause I’m sure I can find plenty of girls in California that can do that. Easily.”
“No,” he laughs, “But that is impressive.”
“What do you say we head outside?”
“Do you have anything?”
“Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. You’ll just have to find out.”
I push his shoulder lightly, “I don’t like playing games.”
“Then let’s go,” he says and tugs my hand, leading me outside.
Another night spent with Carson Macmillian.
