Last night I had a fantastic dream about Wonderland. I don`t know if it was related to your set I saw yesterday or to my watching Tim Burton`s film again.
I dreamt I was Alice and I received an invitation to a masquerade ball. I dressed up in a beautiful dress and high heels and I wore a lace domino on my face. Everybody else were also wearing costumes but what I didn`t know was that those were their real clothes and faces and not roles they were playing.
The ballrooms were too many to count and were enormous. The optical illusion of the countless huge mirrors on the walls made them look even bigger and surreal. The atmosphere was fantastical. I was walking through the ballrooms and through the glorious halls that were connecting them.
The music was discreet at first but was gradually becoming louder and louder so that everybody were shouting to be able to hear each other. I could not understand what they were talking about, not that they were speaking an unknown language but the meaning of what they were saying was unclear and ludicrous.
I began thinking that maybe it`s better I left but I could not find the exit, all halls lead into other halls and all ballrooms into other ballrooms in an endless way. So I decided to hide from all the noise and madness for a while and found a powder room. I went in. It was a huge velvet room with mirrors and sofas and there were calendars all over the walls, all of them pointing to the wrong date. When I noticed they are far behind in time, I started fixing the right date on them.
Suddenly two of the ladies came in and saw what I was doing. They were very angry and were accusing me of cheating. I tried explaining I was only correcting the date on the calendars but they wouldn`t listen. I realized my only option is to leave the room so I did. They chased after me and I began running.
I was running from hall to hall in an endless loop and I didn`t know where I was anymore. The place was a maze of rooms and corridors, I lost my orientation and just kept running with no direction whatsoever. The two women were still after them,I could not lose them.
Suddenly as I was thinking there is no escape to this, a balcony appeared. It was overlooking a maze of stairs like Escher`s painting "Relativity". I could not reach those stairs so I jumped and somehow I landed safely on them. The women were still after me and I overheard them saying that they cannot lose me although they cannot see me most of the time because they were simply following the noise of my high heels . I stopped and took my pumps off and at that very moment a a pair of lovely soft slippers appeared and I put them on. I kept running down the stairs that were appearing like phantoms under my feet. It felt like it was all an illusion and the stairs would never end. I cannot describe to you how fantastic everything looked and felt but it really did.
In the end,I reached a floor that was full of beautiful retro rooms with people who were quietly sitting and talking. It seemed that it was the first floor and I began searching for the door that would lead me out of this. It also seemed that I had finally lost the two women chasing me so I slowed down and had the chance to look around. I tried asking for the way out but nobody answered. I didn`t know if they couldn`t see me or were simply being hostile.
Anyway,I finally found a hall that was lit by the sun rays coming from an open door. Finally, that was my way out. I stepped out and found myself in a garden. It was vast and beautiful. The Red Queen was there dressed in a red gown with needles sticking out of it. She started explaining something to me that I could not understand and at each sentence she finished she would pierce me with a needle. The needles were sharp and it really hurt but she didnt seem to notice my pain. She wasnt doing this to hurt me,I realized, it was just her manner of speaking.
When I finally escaped her, I began walking down the path leading to the exit of the garden. Unfortunately, there was this nightmarish old woman living on the first floor who was the guardian of the garden. Her mission was to lure people in and prevent them from escaping. She tried to paralyze me with her thought so that I could barely walk and at the same time the exit was getting further and further away from me as though the path was becoming longer by itself. I was struggling to keep walking in spite of that but it was becoming more and more difficult.
Then I woke up.
