Fortunately, you no longer have to dress like a “guy in a skirt” to be taken seriously at a job interview. The era of the stiff navy suit, the white silk blouse with a neck bow, and the low black pumps is a distant memory. (To quote Lily Tomlin: “You didn’t offend anyone, because you didn’t look good in it.” True.) 
These days, you can be feminine AND professional. I have styled this job interview outfit for a 30-something woman applying for a significant management position in the corporate office of a national company. If you work in the creative world you could go for an edgier look, perhaps replacing the silk jacket with a leather one.
A few common-sense rules: (1) leave the jangly bangle bracelets home… on your wrist goes the most expensive watch you can afford; (2) you can never go wrong toning down the makeup; (3) yes, of COURSE you have a Blackberry or iPhone. But take notes on a yellow legal pad with a quality fountain pen.
