  • English Classics Furniture English Mahogany Bow Front Chest
    english-classics.net
This antique style chest of drawers is English-made by hand as a Victorian period reproduction. Using the finest materials available, including a stunning selection of flame mahogany, satinwood banding and solid brass hardware, this incredibly strong bow front chest glows with a rich, classic appearance that results from a combination between traditional antique Georgian style design and high-quality materials. Indeed, the mahogany simply looks stunning, due in part to its striking contrast with the crossbanding and solid brass hardware, including swan neck style pulls and oval escutcheons. With a classic two-over-three drawer design, this bow front chest offers plenty of storage space, while the top two drawers lock. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetailed drawer joints, indicating fine craftsmanship, and this high standard of quality is maintained from top to bottom, where lovely splayed feet provide strong support. The feet are quite thick and because of their somewhat arched design, they are much stronger than straight feet, a discovery Queen Anne craftsmen made when perfecting the similarly curvaceous cabriole leg in the early 18th century. Whether you are looking for a decorative chest for your home or for a functional dresser with plenty of secure storage space, this bow front chest would make the perfect addition to any home, representing a carefully crafted combination of superb design and impressive functionality that has been characteristic of fine English furniture for hundreds of years.
  • English Classics Furniture Walnut Inverted Bow Front Chest
    english-classics.net
This exquisite burl walnut chest of drawers is a new reproduction handmade in England by a third-generation cabinetmaker. The inverted bow front design certainly sets this gorgeous chest apart, giving it a classy look that, when combined with the remarkably rich burl walnut, will look great in any setting. The wood itself was treated to an elaborate finishing process that ended in a fine wax finish, which both protects and enriches the natural beauty of the wood, and which is superior to other, cheaper forms of finishing. The solid brass swan neck pulls contrast beautifully with the walnut, while the shaped bracket feet are as sturdy as they are elegant. Of course, each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, which is one of many indicators of hand-crafted quality. Because this chest is brand new, it is in excellent condition, and would make a fine addition to any furniture collection.

  • English Classics Furniture English Walnut Serpentine Chest of Drawers Dresser
    english-classics.net
A third generation furniture maker in England recently hand crafted this serpentine chest of drawers with the combined skill of three generations of experience. The resulting work of art would grace any space within your home with elegance and beauty. The name serpentine is given to this dresser because of the shape of the front. The almost ‘S’ shape is reminiscent of a traditional serpent found in images and stories throughout history. When used on a piece of furniture, it is softer and more interesting on the eye than a straight fronted piece. This serpentine chest of drawers also uses fluted and canted (cut) corners to further soften the piece. The wood used is a stunning selection of burled walnut. The burls within the walnut come from diseased parts of the tree which makes this particular wood rare and beautiful. When combined with the special shape of the serpentine chest of drawers the burl is really eye catching. The drawers and top of the dresser are banded with a straight grain walnut cross banding. Further accenting the medium brown color of the wood are the brass pulls and escutcheons. Only the top drawer locks. True to the traditional Georgian style of the piece a brushing slide is just above the top drawer. A brushing slide was historically used for laying a piece of clothing on and brushing the lint off of it before putting it on. A set of sturdy bracket feet finish the bottom of the chest off splendidly. The techniques used in crafting a serpentine chest of drawers have been passed down for generations. The wood is transformed into the proper shape, hand distressed, and hand finished using a seven stage hand finishing process. These techniques combine to give a new piece of furniture the look and feel of a piece of antique furniture. A truly remarkable chest that would warm any room you put it in!
