December 14th – 16th: Event: Head on down to Henry’s place tonight dinner, drinks, and Disney karaoke. Take a few shots for some liquid courage before you sing in front of the rest of the gang, and if you’re feeling daring, tackle one of Disney’s famous duets with a friend. Don’t worry if you’re underage, we’re all among friends here. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
Challenge: Make a set featuring your character’s favorite Disney song (or two). Feel free to dress in a character-themed outfit if you really want to act your part, but there’s no need to – after all, it’s one of our nights off.
"Go on, Victoria… Don't be a baby about it."
William Blake elbowed me in the side. I narrowed my eyes at him before flipping my dark hair over my shoulders.
"I really don't feel like singing karaoke right now, William."
He groaned at me.
"You were on Broadway, weren't you?"
"Well, not Broadway, no, but I was in a musical-"
"Then just do it, goddamnit!" He cried. I eyed the other figures in the bar. So many others had gone up to sing… I could do it too, right?
"Then you're coming with me," I grabbed Will's shirtsleeve and dragged him after me hastily. He eyed me wildly.
"No, I'm not!"
"Hell yeah you are!" I argued back before grabbing two shot glasses from a passing waiter's tray. I handed one to my counterpart and knocked my own against his. "To bravery, my friend!"
His eyes watched me in marvel as I tipped the harsh substance back. Gack. Jägermeister. It was one of my least favorite drinks, but whatever. It'll do.
I skipped in my combat boots towards the stage.
"What are we even singing? 'A Whole New World' or something?" William called from behind me. I shook my head at him.
"I'm not that uncreative, ass," I shot.
He rolled his eyes at me.
I snuck towards the karaoke booth and picked our song without informing him. He'd just have to deal.
"What are you even picking?!"
"You'll see," I grinned cheekily.
God, I loved messing with him.
"Victoria Atwood, you will be the death of me," He groaned after I pushed him on the stage. We grabbed the two microphones as the intro music began to play and the words slowly danced on screen. I began singing first, as Simba.
"I'm gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware!"
Will turned to me and laughed before singing as Zazu, "I've never seen a king of beasts with quite so little hair."
"I'm gonna be the mane event, like no king was before, I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my roar!"
"Thus far a rather uninspiring thing."
"Oh I just can't wait to be king!" I belted before both Will and I found ourselves giggling again.
"No one saying do this!" I challenged.
"Now when I said that-" He sang back.
"No one saying be there!"
"What I meant was-"
"No one saying stop that!"
"What you don't realize-"
"No one saying see here!"
"Now see here!"
"Free to run around all day."
"That's definitely out-"
"Free to do it all my way!" I cried.
"I think it's time that you and I arranged a heart-to-heart," Will grinned.
"Kings don't need advice from little hornbills for a start," I replied.
"If this is where the monarchy is headed, count me out! Out of service, out of Africa, I wouldn't hang about, this child is getting wildly out of wing-"
"Oh I just can't wait to be king!!"
I swung my hips and danced to the familiar beat.
"Everybody look left, everybody look right, everywhere you look I'm standing in the spotlight!" I sang.
"Not yet!" Will added.
The crowd began to sing as the words flashed on screen, "let every creature go for broke and sing, let's hear it in the heard and on the wind, it's gonna be King Simba's finest fling!"
"Oh I just can't wait to be king! Oh, I just can't wait to be king!"
The song ended as both Will and I laughed again.
"I can't believe you made me do that," he hissed with a smirk.
I giggled at that.
"I can't believe I did that either."
