What better gift could you give your loved one than a bracelet with this heritage. In 1968 Cartier fashioned a limited edition of bracelets, designed by Aldo Cipullo. These bracelets were to be given as a symbol of love’s commitment as they were fastened to the receiver’s wrist by means of a tiny screwdriver. Soon, stylish people all around New York and across the country rushed to get one. Photos of celebrities began to appear in newspapers and magazines with that distinctive band of gold gleaming at the wrist. Before long, a "waiting list" had to be created because the demand for the bracelet had vastly outpaced the ability of the Cartier workshop to make them. By 1973, the roster of "Love Bracelet" owners included Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon, Ali McGraw and Steve McQueen, Mai Britt and Sammy Davis, Jr. and many other famous couples for around the world. The bracelet had become so well known that it was often humorously cited as the definitive measurement of a lover's commitment (e.g. "Do you love me enough for the Cartier 'Love Bracelet'"?) As the years passed, the appetite for this extraordinary item has continued to grow. NOW YOU CAN OWN THIS TRUE STATEMENT OF TRUE LOVE In 1970 Charles Revson then presented, a limited supply, of this item as a specially commissioned edition of the Cartier Love Bracelet that was designed by Aldo Cipullo But to enable it to be available to a larger range of customers, it was produced in gold electroplate. This gave it the identical appearance of the original bracelet, but at a more attractive price, and being electoplated it would not create reactions to the skin like gold plated does.
