Cotton and polyester reversible coat with Tiger letter print. Spread collar, long sleeves. Zip and button-fastening. One breast pocket and two side pockets. In 1970, Japanese designer Kenzo Takada started his label in Paris, calling it “Jungle Jap”. This 2013 Resort season, Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim revisited those early days, taking a trip through the real-life jungles that directly informed the look of the collection. Dramatically playing with volumes, we saw cinched waists, wide-legged pants, parka jackets, T-shirt dresses in a vibrant color palette featuring a rare East Asia-native leopard print. Ready for the wild and meant to have fun with, the pieces also combined athletic and artisanal vibes (techno fabrics and raffia weaving detailing). Overall, a collection in touch with Kenzo's idea of globalism, back when it was something emotional and experiential, as opposed to something you explore via clicking onto Internet Explorer. 2013 Resort collection by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim
