August 12th – Swing by The Rabbit Hole tonight with your friends for half priced drinks during happy hour! Bring your fake I.D.’s if you aren’t legal yet, and if you’re lucky, the bartenders might pretend to not know your real age. Just don’t get too drunk, we wouldn’t want to wake up in somebody else's bed in the morning, would we?

Bzzt. Bzzt. Bzzt.
I look down at my cell phone as the screen lights up, signifying that I have a new text message. I pick my cell phone up from my nightstand, opening the message slowly.
If you have plans, you should totally cancel them and come and keep me company during happy hoooour tonight since I have to work through it and not just enjoy it like normal people. Pretty please? :p”
I laugh softly, looking down at my outfit. I hadn’t changed out of my pajamas since I had woken up this morning and I really didn’t want to go out, but Lily really seemed like she wanted me to come by The Rabbit Hole and keep her company, so…I made the executive decision to get my butt out of bed and go keep her company.
I’ll be there soon; I have to put real clothes on and make myself look nice. Will you sneak me a drink? Pretty please? :p”
I hit send and then get off of my bed, making a face at myself in my mirror before I go over to my closet. I had no idea what to wear, my hair was a mess, and my wake up was at least a day old. It would take a while (and a lot of work) to make myself presentable again.
I grab the first dress I see in my closet, a royal blue number I hadn’t worn since I had bought it at the beginning of summer. It was pretty simple, but pretty cute as well. I could dress it up with some heels and it would do for tonight.
“Now for shoes….” I look down at all of my shoes, finally settling on a pair of sparkly, red heels. I change quickly and then make my way to the bathroom, washing my face and reapplying my makeup before I start to tackle the mess that was my hair. After a few minutes of fighting with it I give up, deciding just to pull it back into a ponytail. It would have to do.
I grab my purse, calling out that I’m going out with friends as I head out of the house, sending another text to Lily.
On my way now, see you soon.”
The Rabbit Hole was pretty busy by the time I arrived, but then again, happy hour always was. Half priced drinks were always popular, especially since the bartenders didn’t always ID people. Not that I drank a lot, but knew Lily (or even Alys) would slip me a drink without checking my ID.
“Ariel, hey!” Lily calls out when I finally make it to the bar, waving over at me. “What can I get you? I can take a ten so we can talk for a few.”
“A pina colada…and only if you want. I don’t wanna get you in trouble or anything.” I say softly, handing her some money after I tell her what I want. “Keep the change.”
“I’ll take a ten. Go grab us a table, I’ll find out in a second with your drinks.” Lily smiles, taking the money from me before she turns, going to make my drink.
“Okay…see you in a minute.” I smile slightly, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear before I make my way to one of the few empty tables, saving a seat for Lily as I sit down.
“Here you go, one pina colada.” Lily says as she joins me at the table, smiling. “Unfortunately I can’t drink while I’m on the clock, buuut I’m totally gonna have one once I’m off the clock.”
I laugh, taking a small sip of my drink. “Thanks for the drink.”
“Mm, no problem. Just don’t tell on me.”
“You know I won’t.” I smile, scanning the bar quickly for any familiar faces. (Okay, maybe I was looking for Eric, but ssh). “Hey, do you know that guy over there?” I ask, nodding towards a guy who seemed to be staring at Lily.
“Um…no. But he’s cute. Do you know him?”
I shake my head, laughing as he looks away. “He was staring at you, not me.”
“What? No way.” Lily shakes her head, wrinkling her nose at me.
“Uh, yes way. I look like shit, so…” I trail off, shrugging slightly. “Look, he’s staring again.”
Before Lily can reply, I make the executive decision to wave the guy over. He tilts his head to the side, mouthing “who, me?” and I nod, waving him over.
“Have fun, Lils. Text me about all of this later.” I laugh softly grabbing my drink and getting up before Lily can stop me, going to go talk to Alys at the bar.
Hopefully Lily wouldn’t be /too/ mad about all of this…
