    Design Marcel Breuer, 1925. Chromed tubular steel, laminate. Made in USA by Knoll. Marcel Breuer conceived the first tubular steel chair, in 1925, based on the tubed frame of a bicycle. The Laccio tables were conceived as companions to the Wassily chair but have become true classics in any decor. Functional, simple and distinctly modern. Knoll is the only authorized and licensed manufacturer of the Laccio tables. Marcel Breuer's signature and Knoll studio logo are stamped into the base of each table to verify authenticity. Protégé of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer embodied many of the School's distinctive concepts and was one of the School's most famous students. He returned to teach carpentry from 1925-1928, during which he designed the tubular-steel furniture collection. His attention drifted towards architecture, and after practicing privately, he worked as a professor at Harvard's School of Design under Gropius. Breuer was also honored as the first architect to be the sole artist of an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Laccio tables feature a satin finish, smooth plastic laminate top in either black, white or red. The frame and legs are seamless tubular steel in a polished chrome finish.     The Stromborg Table Collection, designed for indoor and outdoor use, offers clean lines and exciting connections. The signature X- and Y-shaped aluminum rails give the table a subtle but energetic accent. Daniel Stromborg’s young, but already robust career is informed by a variety of evolving professional interests. After studying pre-med and comparative literature at the University of Montana, Stromborg fell into object design and furniture making. He briefly studied Interior Architecture at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, before moving to Los Angeles to study Environmental Design at The Art Center of Design in Pasadena. After stints with digital-imaging pioneer April Greiman and furniture designer Richard Holbrook, Stromborg worked with designer Don Chadwick. Accordingly, his first introduction to Knoll product design came while he worked as Lead Designer on Chadwick’s Spark Series. Stromborg left Chadwick’s studio to pursue his own projects full-time and collaborated with Knoll to create the Stromborg Table. He is currently working with his studio—The Creative Common. All tops are suitable for outdoor use. Leg finished with ultra-durable polyester powder coat. Steel legs are pretreated with a zinc-rich epoxy primer providing a robust base of protection from the elements. Table base is constructed using extruded aluminum rails connected using die-cast "X” and "Y” shaped castings. Legs join the extruded aluminum rails with blind assembly, seamlessly tying the leg to the cope-detailed rail. Stainless steel hardware and fasteners.     Design Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, 1930. Oak, black plastic glides. Made in USA by Knoll. While planning the Esters and Lange residences in Krefeld, Germany, modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe conceived a restrained, emblematic lounge chair, ottoman and companion table, which embody the syntax, skill and diversity of his work. The Krefeld Collection, developed in consultation with the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is a "furniture suite" based on Mies original drawings from the Mies van der Rohe Archive. The beautifully proportioned pieces feature a lounge collection and an accompanying side and coffee table, available in clear oak and a range of stained finishes. After working in his father's stonemasonry business and engaging furniture apprenticeships, Mies established his own office in Berlin, and later became a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and Director of the Bauhaus. He immigrated to the United States in 1938, setting up a practice in Chicago where he persued his architecture career and later became the director of architecture at the Institute of Technology in Chicago.
