  • Moroso Bohemian Tall Armchair
    hivemodern.com
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2008. Injected foam, resin frame, varnished steel, upholstery. Made in Italy by Moroso. Patricia Urquiola is the designer who best expresses Moroso's vision; she has therefore created the main range of the new Bohemian collection. She has taken a very original approach to classic capitonné work, giving it a revolutionary modern look. Creating emotions. Patricia's Bohemian family of products - sofa, chaise longue and armchairs - have very fluid forms, almost as if they were melting over their frame, creating soft, irregular, enveloping, almost casual lines, where the fabric or leather is fixed to the shell with press-studs. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of. The Bohemian tall armchair features injected foam over an internal resin frame that sits on a steel swivel base. Very contemporary, a modern slant on a classic. This fresh approach was only possible thanks to Moroso's manual ability and know-how. As if they were working in a fashion atelier, Moroso's "tailors" treat the fabric with supreme nonchalance, transforming it at will, bringing it to life and giving shape to the designer's vision. Please note: one matching 23" seat cushion is included with your order. This product can also be ordered without a seat cushion (please call for to order). All other cushions seen in pictures are not included. Back side is covered in matching upholstery. Covers are removable. • Fritz Hansen Egg chair Armchair - /Gabriele Fame fabric
    madeindesign.co.uk
Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg? for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen. The commission to design every element of the hotel building as well as the furniture was Jacobsen's grand opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen's total design - a sculptural contrast to the building's almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces. The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use : a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell's perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces and the Egg - with or without footstool - is ideal for lounge and waiting areas as well as the home. The Egg is available in a wide variety of fabric upholstery as well as leather, always combined with a star shaped base in satin polished aluminium. In detail: Type : Armchair. Colour : Red. Material : Shell : polyurethane foam with glass fibre reinforcement - Polished aluminium base. Dimensions : W 86 cm x D 79 to 95 cm x H 107 cm - Seat : H 37 cm. Characteristics : Swiveling base - Adjustable backrest.
  • Knoll International Knoll - Saarinen Tulip Chair
Eero Saarinen designed the first version of the Tulip Chair in 1953 and created therewith the base of a revolutionary design classic among seating furniture – there has never been a chair before that connected foot and seat to one closed form. In cooperation with the manufacturer Knoll, the Tulip Chair has been further developed. 1956 the chair finally came to the market with its characteristic shape that it still wears. The purist designed Tulip Chair reminds us of a tulip as its name says, combined with classic Scandinavian design. The background of the design of the Tulip Chair is described by Eero Saarinen: “I wanted to order the confusing feet mixture. I wanted to make a unity out of a chair again.” This made the four-feet chair as one knows it, a one-feet chair. The seat of the Tulip Chair is made out of plastic and reinforced with fiberglass. It sits on a trumpet-shaped base which is made out of weightless metal and has a Rilsan-surface coating. Moreover the chair is available in different editions: initially there is the choice between a chair with armrests and one without them. The Tulip Chair can be ordered in a swivel version or standing, furthermore one can choose an upholstered seat or a separate cushion for it. The coatings are available with numerous different fabrics and colours. Also the chair itself is produced in black and white. Of course we would be glad to suggest you about colours, forms and tissues for your individual Tulip Chair! More details: Characteristics: The Tulip Seating furniture collection by Saarinen includes an armrest chair, a chair without armrests, with swivel base or fixed foot and a stool. The chairs are available whether with an upholstered cushion or wholly upholstered seats with seat cushion. The swivel chair with upholstered seating cushion fulfills the collection. The KnollStudio logo and the signature from Eero Saarinen are printed on the lower part of the foot. Construction: Pillar foot out of cast aluminium with Rilsan coating on all black and white models. The platin coloured pillar feet have a polyurethane coating with transparent finish. The bowl is made out of fiberglass reinforced plastic. Surface: Bowl and frame are black, white or platinum coloured. Wholly upholstered seats with seat cushion with different fabrics available. For chairs with seating cushions there are many different fabrics and Spinneybeck leathers available to be chosen. Awards: Award of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1969 / Federal Republic Prize for product design / “Gute Form”, Germany, 1969 / Award for design career of Design Centers Stuttgart, Germany, 1962.
