  • Stephen Kenn Inheritance Armchair - Black Canvas & Blackened Steel
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. Black canvas cushion covers, black cotton webbing and leather belts interwoven atop a blackened steel frame. Made in Los Angeles, the collection is inspired by the characteristic principles of Soviet Modernism and bold interpretations of Brutalist Architecture through the simplification of form, receptive angular geometries and functional design.

  • Normann Copenhagen Swell Armchair
    shophorne.com
Swell is a minimalistic furniture collection with a playful, light-hearted feel designed by the Swedish designer Jonas Wagell. Modular sofas and armchairs are now available, open up for even more possibilities and combinations in interior design. The Scandinavian simplicity of the design is accentuated by a stringent design without unnecessary details. In spite of this, Swell oozes with character and personality and its soft, curved shapes make it both inviting and provide a fantastic sitting comfort. The name Swell is a reference to rising bread with its full shape, consisting of a robust padded back and seat and two curvy armrests. The stitching on the back and the seats divides the sofas into sections and completes the feel. Jonas Wagell says: ”I've always been fascinated by minimalism, but I like to add a warm and personal touch to the products. I have taken the aesthetic and practical qualities that I prefer in furniture for the living room as a reference point, and in this way, Swell very much reflects my own personal taste and style”. Swell is available in a wide range of colors. The range makes it easy to find a sofa suitable for any decor by encompassing everything from neutral grey and brownish tones to deep and tranquil shades of blue and purple as well as energetic and bright yellow, green and red and a classic black. The Haringe series of teak furniture is refined elegance for indoors, outdoors or anything in between. The sophistication of the series makes it ideal for around the swimming pool, in the game room or just about anywhere. The teak slats are framed with either stainless steel or black stainless steel. The cushions are given a sophisticated touch through the use of buttons and decorative stitching so they are not waterproof but the beauty is still undeniable. The cushions are available in either a weather durable Sunbrella fabric or in imitation leather with loose patches sewn together by hand and buttons added along the seams. The leather cushions are for indoor use only. The series has an armchair, lounge chair, sofa, and cocktail tables in 2 sizes as well as 3 sizes of a dining table. As with all teak furniture, to maintain the original luster the teak requires to be oiled once or twice a year. It features large feather cushions that are notable for their depth, the back has a line of sewn in pulls, lending the armchair the appearance of a buttoned back, without the actual buttons. It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.

Eero Saarinen designed the first version of the Tulip Chair in 1953 and with it, he created the base of a revolutionary design classic among all the chairs – there has never been a chair that connected its base and seat in one closed form before. The Tulip Chair was further developed in cooperation with Knoll. Finally, the chair went to the market in its characteristic design known until today, in 1956. The purist designed Tulip Chair reminds us of a tulip, as its name reveals, and it combines modernity with classic Scandinavian design. The background of the design of the Tulip Chair is described by Eero Saarinen as follows: “I wanted to stop the confusing mixture of chair-feet. I wanted to make a unity again out of an armchair.” This is how the four-feet chair as we know it, became a one-foot model. The seat of the Tulip Chair consists of synthetics, fiberglass reinforced. It sits on a trumpet-shaped base which was cast out of light metal and has a rilsan-surface coating. Moreover the chair is available in different editions: Initially there is the selection between an armchair and a design without armrests. The Tulip Chair can be delivered in a rotating or rigid edition, moreover the seat is available upholstered or alone and with a separate cushion.
