Because of their light, manageable weight, these commercial-quality planters are ideal for urban balconies that must adhere to weight capacity regulations. Made in Italy. No drainage holes. Designed as a "cachepot," the bottom should be lined with 1"-2" of pebbles, rocks or gravel, before setting plant inside. This allows excess water to evaporate, and helps prevent root decay. hivemodern.com
Design Ward Bennett, 1963. Matte black textured aluminum. Made in the USA by Geiger® A versatile pedestal, side table, or coffee table, Ward Bennett's I Beam Tables pay tribute to modern architecture and industrial exactness. Part of Ward Bennett's inaugural furniture collection for Brickel in 1963, the deisgn was inspired by a piece in his own long island vacation home. Crafted from matte black powder-coated cast aluminum and either left bare or topped with glass or stone, the I Beam Tables offer an auxiliary surface and a witty artistic statement. Ward Bennett's story is a remarkable one. His career began at age 13, when he quit school to work in the garment district in New York City. At 15, he designed his first clothing collection; at 16 he left for Europe, where he continued working on fashions. Simplicity and comfort were always his goals. Bennett designed more than 150 chairs, many of which have become classics. He is considered the first American to use industrial materials for home furnishings, well before the high-tech look of the 1970s became popular. He was hailed by the American Institute of Architects for "transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects." Many of Bennett's designs are in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection as well as in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; he is also in Interior Design magazine's Hall of Fame. Please note: natural characteristics in stone cause variations in hues, veins, crystals, and distinctive marks. These are subtle changes seen as the stone ages & values associated with natural materials. No two tabletops are identically the same; variations in both color and veining are to be expected. Over time the stone may fade in color, staining of the surface may appear, and surface cracks-if not already visible at time of purchase-may appear. • Element 16" Planter design by Planterworx
    burkedecor.com
The unique forms that were created for the Element planters drew inspiration from shore line rock formations. These avant garde yet familiar forms are meant to inspire contemplation and promote conversation. Conceived with the urban gardener in mind, these planters are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Built by hand in in Brooklyn, NY by Planterworx, an industry leader in outdoor metalwork known for their outstanding designs and meticulous craftsmanship. All Planterworx planters are composed of recycled metals and have been designed to endure the test of time, both in stature and style. Designer: Charles Constantine Available in white, silver, pewter, or corten. AboutMaterials. All planters are available in powder coated aluminum (white ,pewter, silver) or corten steel. Drainage holes are provided on all planters, custum colors are available. Powder Coating is an advanced method of applying a dry decorative and protective finish. The electrostatic charged powder is a mixture of pigments and resin positively charged and sprayed onto a grounded planter. The charged powder adheres to the grounded planter and is melted and fused into a solid coating in a curing oven. This results in a unique high quality durable finish. With Corten® Steel, the patina or rust acts as a protective barrier, neither penetrating nor compromising the structural integrity of the material. Corten® Steel has a reactive patina period from 3 to 9 months depending on location and climate. Corten® steel produces carbon run off or staining to adjacent materials like stone and concrete. After the initial reactive period Corten® steel will cure and self seal with very little to no carbon runoff.
