One of my favorite TV shows of all time is the classic early-to-mid '60's sitcom "The Dick Van Dyke Show". Not only was it always reliably funny, but for its time it was WAY ahead of the curve in showing off the very warm, very affectionate relationship between Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) and his intelligent, beautiful, straight-shooting wife Laura (Mary Tyler Moore).

Laura Petrie was also ahead of her time fashionably, in that, while she was shown wearing very Jackie Kennedy-esque suits and hair, she was also often shown wearing pants -- in an era when most TV wives looked like June Cleaver, Laura Petrie sported ultra-slim ankle-length slacks, flats (also often with 60's-style pointed toes) and something chic and simple on top, like a ballet-necked sweater or a crisp white shirt.

I have these pants and Viv flats on order (the flats are FS, so wish me luck), and I'm really looking forward to trying this very Laura Petrie look.
