(Well... this is late. Sorry!!!)

♪ | What Have You Done For Me Lately - Janet Jackson

I woke up thinking that maybe leaving for Christmas was a mistake. I shouldn't have come here. Dad was extra busy with his political campaign and mom was overdoing it with her charity parties. I got up of bed and got ready to pack. Mom was standing on my door, pouting.
I knitted my eyebrows, “Mom, I'm not staying. You know that.”
“But Elina, you have everything you could ever need here!” Mom whined, walking past me and putting a breakfast plate on my nightstand.
I shook my head, “No, I have to go...”
“Elina.” She shot me a warning look.
“Mom.” I glared at her. “I'm NOT staying and that's my final word.” I said defiantly.
“Okay, you can bring him home.” Mom said cooly.
“Who?” My eyebrows shot up. What the he.ll was she talking about?
“That Alexander guy.” She said. “The one that keeps on calling you.”
I laughed out loud, crossing my arms against my chest, “I'm not dating my boss.”
“Oh.” She frowned. “Well, who is it then?”
“No one, mom.” I said. That was the truth. “There's nothing left here for me.”
“Your family!” She exclaimed, aggitated.
“Sorry, mom. I have to go back. I have a job and a life in Milan.”
She pursed her lips, “Is it because of Alexandria and Ryan? Because they're getting married and all that?”
“Elizabeth!” I shouted mom's name. I never did that. Unless I was mad, which in this case, I was. “Could you stop it? I don't give two f.cks if they get married or not.”
“Elina...” She said in a soothing voice. “You can always talk to me.”
“Mom, I'm not a person you're interviewing, I'm your daughter. This isn't a news article.”
“Fine, be that way.” She stood up and walked out the room. “Expect Douglas to pick you up in an hour.”
Douglas was her personal chauffer and lover, even though dad didn't know. Kate and I found about it by mistake, it was the most awful thing I've ever witnessed and to this day, I have never been able to look at Douglas in the eyes.

A few minutes later, I heard the doorbell. I rolled my eyes, Kate probably forgot to take her keys, as usual. I opened the door teasingly, “Ha. Lost your keys again?” I opened the door wide to reveal Alex grinning cheekily.
“Elina, you're home.”
“Oh, it's you.” I rolled my eyes hard. “Congratulations on your wedding, if you'll excuse me, I have to finish packing.”
“You're leaving so early!” She said. “Stay for the wedding!”
“I would, but I'm allergic to bullsh.t.” I smiled softly. “May you two have years of blissful f.cking.”
She gasped, “Elina, we haven't--”
“I don't need to know about your sexual life.”
“Well, I'd better finish handing in the invitations!” She smiled, “Here's yours.”
She gave me an envelope with my name neatly written on it. I looked up at the envelope, nodded and broke it in two. “There you go. Don't ever step a foot on my house again.”
“Elina!” She said, her eyes wide open.
“Buh bye.” I said, shutting the door in her face. I was left alone in the house. Mom had rushed to her work and later she'd go back to planning the next fundraiser. Kate was recording in the studio and dad was busy with his political campaign, like always. What a way to say goodbye... I thought. Maybe it's for the best that I leave again. On a bright note, my leg was good as new. Now all I had to do was get my as.s on that airport and go back to the place I called home.
