I SAW MOTHER ENTER [Take One]
“At the time referred to (about three months after mother's death*), I had retired to bed between nine and ten o'clock at night. My husband was out to a High Council meeting which usually kept him to a late hour. A baby, six months old, was by my side, and twin girls two years older, lay in a crib in the same room. The latter acted restless and I was about to arise and look after them. There was rushing, as of wind, and a rustling as of autumn leaves, that filled me with a kind of timid fear. Just then the room lighted with a soft white light, and I wondered how the moon could be so bright, as the room seemed lighter than at midday. At this point I saw mother enter the door, looking as natural as life. She came directly to my bedside and greeted me.”
*It was probably in September or early October 1885.
[At this point in my journey through my great grandmother Lerona’s memoir, I will travel down a familiar road – again. For more than two decades in my visual journals I have experimented with drawings and collages of Lerona visiting the Spirit World with her mother Lucinda. I made a large painted folio of the vision (after several misguided attempts), and in 2008 the Mormon Artists Group published a version. You can see the prospectus here:

INAPPROPRIATION

INAPPROPRIATION

This site is Polyvore’s “salon des refuses”—an exhibition space for collages rejected, despised, or ignored by decorous members of other groups. It is a place for works inappropriately and un-tastefully appropriated—a place of obscure meaning and tough truth. No announcements, no contests, no invitations to join will be found on this site. Inappropriation may be interpreted as using others' property improperly to make new property with different properties.

If you feel you belong do not join.
