17/12- CHALLENGE PART 2: Since it is so earlier in the competition the judges thought they would give you something easy to start off with. We all know that a LBD is a wardrobe essential for every woman so for today's challenge we want you to take a basic LBD and turn into something YOU would wear on a night out.
"Can you turn one last time?" I asked one of our regular models for Nylon, she did as I asked and twirled in the outfit I had chosen. My boss had let me use a room at Nylon offices to complete my challenge or at least put together an outfit I was impressed with.
I was usually quite spot on with my outfits but being judged on my personal style had me a little terrified. Perhaps more that a little but I would never admit that aloud to anyone. It was the third blazer I had tried and I liked it but would others.
"I like the pop of colour" the model smiled brightly, examining the clutch I had given her. "Personal item?" she questioned, looking up at me.
"I own everything except the heels, I bought my own clothing" I answered, "it's a little baggy for that particular reason."
"I'm too skinny" the model frowned, I shook my head instantly. "No, I've just become lazy with my figure" I paused, "something I can't afford in this industry."
The model nodded, understandingly, "I like it and the blazer's comfortable, as are the shoes." I took another step back and instantly slammed into something hard, catching me by surprise.
"Mind not stepping on my toes?" Jackson questioned, raising an eyebrow and his permanent smirk stuck on his face.
"Mind not getting in my way?" I retorted, moving away from him and looking back at the model. "Can you do a walk for me? Something's missing" I commented.
The model walked up and down before standing in front of me, the smile back on her face as she placed a hand on her hip. "Jewellry" I exclaimed, rummaging through the collection of jewellry set out from the last shoot of the day.
I picked out a gold necklace that lacked significant detail but I didn't want the focus away from the clutch, shoes and the entire outfit in its complete state. "Why yellow?" Jackson asked, sitting down nearby and observing my every action.
"It's something I would wear, that was part of the challenge" I responded. "I happen to adore bright colours and especially yellow."
"I think I need sunglasses to look at it."
"Shut up" I rolled my eyes at his smart remark. "Why did you choose the blazer?"
"Must you ask questions 24/7?" I questioned, shaking my head. "I like to be comfortable when out at night with the girls, comfort over style and also, I like looking professional."
"What's your excuse right now?" Jackson asked, looking me up and down.
I shot him a glare and continued on the challenge, "what, no comeback?"
"What, not capable of shutting your mouth?" I responded with a matching smirk.
