Lily Rowan visits Nero Wolfe at his famous brownstone on the south side of West 35th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, conveniently near Manhattan North, home of Manhattan's homicide squad. Her visit coincides with the day Webster's new third edition arrived and Wolfe discovered that it included "contact" as a verb. He was so incensed that he proceeded to rip it up, page by page. Webster's venerable Second is resting on the red leather chair, which will soon be cleared for Lily, the only female Wolfe can stand.Today's orchids are yellow. Unfortunately, Archie is missing her visit, because he is out pumping Lon Cohen, editor of The Gazette, about the current case. He and Lily will meet up later, however, for dancing at the Flamingo.
Lily is sporting Lanvin, Alaia, Hermes, Donna Karan, Armenta, Alexis Bittar, and Alejandro Ingelmo. (Out of curiosity, I added up Lily's ensemble: $7800. Good thing she's rich.)
