  • Donna Wilson Hue Armchair
    shophorne.com
Donna Wilson is well known for her oddly shaped and outlandish creatures, yet in the Hue sofa she contains the urge for shape-shifting and has plumped for a rather sophisticated simplicity instead. Inspired by series of coloured boxes, the Hue sofa uses three different shades of colour on each face of the piece, adding emphasis to the outline of the form. The frame is made from hardwood with multi-density foam and lacquered beech turned legs. Hue is adorned with a button on the seat and back, and a single stitch cross detail on the back. The seat itself is very long at nearly two metres and the arms are solid, ideal for using a laptop. Hue comes in four different colourways and a removable arm tray made from stock leather is also available. Donna Wilson’s design is bold, comfortable and reassuringly familiar. Made in the UK. Also available as a sofa. Made to order in Norfolk, England. This version of the Hue armchair is upholstered in Kvadrat Molly. Also available in a wide range of other fabrics and leathers.
  • Oscar Armchair by Matthew Hilton
    shophorne.com
The Oscar armchair strikes a pleasing balance between modernity and tradition, large in size yet light in appearance. The armchair is made from a European hardwood frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibers, animal hair and wool. It features large feather cushions that are notable for their depth, the back has a line of sewn in pulls, lending the armchair the appearance of a buttoned back, without the actual buttons. The feet are made from walnut stained beech, with the front two being turned versions. By contrasting long straight lines with delicate natural curves, Mathew Hilton has created a piece that is both reserved and full of humility. The Oscar armchair is a piece perfect for those who like their modernity laced with a little familiarity. Made in the UK. Shown here in Molly 160 Wool and Range Leather. Additional fabrics available upon request.

  • Stephen Kenn Inheritance Armchair - Leather
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. Made in Los Angeles, the collection is inspired by the characteristic principles of Soviet Modernism and bold interpretations of Brutalist Architecture through the simplification of form, receptive angular geometries and functional design.

  • Matthew Hilton Solstice Armchair
    shophorne.com
Solstice is a relaxed design that developed from the seed of an idea to create a fully upholstered piece that sits directly on the floor at the back. It is made from a European hardwood frame, zig-zag springs, jute webbing, hessian straps and covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibres, animal hair and wool. Subtle piping and seam details on the arms and cushion faces act as a counterpoint to the swooping curve of the design. Hilton imagines sofas and armchairs as big sculptures in our everyday living spaces, and approaches their design as such, creating shapes and forms that are somehow innate, quietly but confidently occupying space. Also available as a three seat sofa. Made to order in Norfolk, England. Available in a wide range of other fabrics and leathers.

A footstool is also available for the Era collection, allowing ample opportunity for comfortable relaxation and rest for the feet. Choose between two lovely wool textiles with a vivid feel and beautiful structures, or soft, durable leather in a vast number of colors. Simon Legald says: ”It took a while to get the proportions and the interaction between the soft curves and straight lines on the shells just right. It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.
