    english-classics.net
At ten feet long this impressive farm table will easily seat ten to twelve people. It is a new table that was hand crafted in England by a third generation furniture maker using only time honored techniques. The wood used is cherry which has a warm, inviting color that creates the perfect atmosphere for an entertaining home. To further enhance the beauty of the cherry, and antique look was achieve through hand distressing and hand finishing. Using metal and stone, the wood was professionaly distressed to give it character. A seven stage hand finishing process provides a durable finish ending in several coats of hand rubbed wax. The wax finish probably does the most in making this table look and feel antique even though it is brand new. A large table like this could be in danger of looking too square so the maker used fine French legs and a shaped skirt to balance this. The legs are sturdy and strong and the table is built to withstand everyday use. This is a terrific table to be used in a large dining room where you want to be able to seat a large gathering often.

  • English Classics Furniture Antique Style Cherry Drop Leaf Dining Table
    english-classics.net
As flexible as it is beautiful, this stunning drop leaf dining table was recently hand-crafted in England by a third-generation cabinetmaker. Few furniture pieces offer such a solid combination of quality and function, one that is sure to complement any setting. From the selection of wood to the techniques used in the making of this exquisite drop leaf dining table, no detail was spared. The solid cherry and yew banding were first carefully selected by hand, and once the yew was inlaid into the cherry, the wood was then distressed using iron and stone implements. Next, the cabinetmaker applied stain, finish, and finally a thick, hand-rubbed coat of wax, which both protects and enriches the natural beauty of the wood. Standard furniture paste wax can also be re-applied to repair and maintain the wax coating. The result is a marvelously elegant dining table that would complement any setting. Often called a loper table, or sometimes even an Irish wake table, this piece offers a great deal of functionality in addition to its hand-crafted beauty. Because it is a drop leaf table, when not in use it takes up very little space relative to when it is opened. At 84″ long, it measures just 23.5″ wide with the leaves down and 60″ with both leaves up. This allows the table to be placed to the side–sometimes against a wall like a sideboard or hall table–serving as storage space or decor until it is needed for dining. Traditionally this has meant that the drop leaf dining table as a design enables the spaces that it occupies to serve multiple purposes (just like bureaus and nests of tables), which was quite a necessity in the small English homes and rooms that would have housed the first drop leaf tables. Structurally this table is quite strong. The solid cherry promises to not only grow more beautiful as time passes and a patina sets in, but it will also withstand years of use in the dining room. The leaves themselves rest on strong solid wood supports that slide out from the middle of the table. Lastly the round tapered legs, which end in sturdy pad feet, offer firm and durable support. This table will certainly withstand the test of time–the true measure of heirloom quality antique style reproductions!

  • English Classics Furniture Mahogany Double Pedestal Dining Table
    english-classics.net
This marvelous double pedestal dining table is a newly hand-crafted piece originating from England. Fashioned by a third-generation cabinetmaker, this table features rich flame mahogany, rosewood banding, and a length that expands from 80″ to 120″ with two additional leaves. As an antique style pedestal dining table, this piece benefits from centuries of fine furniture craftsmanship. The pair of turned pedestals, each with fluted legs and brass feet with casters, take inspiration from Duncan Phyfe’s famous 19th-century designs. Each pedestal supports a single leaf that secures to the base with brass pins. Two wooden beams come with this table so that when the additional leaves are added (each providing 20″ to the total length of the table), the beams run through supports attached to the bottom of the end leaves. The extra leaves sit on top of these beams and secure to one another with male/female joints and solid brass latches. This antique design allows the pedestal dining table to be as flexible as possible for use in the dining room. In terms of length this allows the table to measure 80″ long without either of the extra leaves, 100″ with one extra leaf, and 120″ with both extra leaves. As beautiful as it is useful, this stunning English dining table features a rich selection of flame mahogany with rosewood banding. The banding complements and distinguishes the mahogany, creating a beautiful appearance that should look lovely in any setting. Additionally, the wood has been treated to an elaborate, seven-stage finishing process that ended in a fine coat of hand-rubbed wax. The wax both enriches and protects the natural beauty of the wood and can be re-applied about twice a year (with normal use) to maintain this outer coat. As a final touch, the wood has been very lightly distressed to lend it a little character. Few pedestal dining tables compare either in beauty or quality to this fine antique style table. In addition to the convenient function and classic style, this table is also very well-made and structurally extremely sturdy. The time-tested design of the leaves–complete with wooden beams and brass latches–is very reliable and will operate smoothly for many decades. The underlying solid wood itself is very strong. This fine dining table will certainly last for generations to come as all true heirloom-quality furniture should.

  • Moroso Bohemian Tall Armchair
    hivemodern.com
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2008. Injected foam, resin frame, varnished steel, upholstery. Made in Italy by Moroso. Patricia Urquiola is the designer who best expresses Moroso's vision; she has therefore created the main range of the new Bohemian collection. She has taken a very original approach to classic capitonné work, giving it a revolutionary modern look. Creating emotions. Patricia's Bohemian family of products - sofa, chaise longue and armchairs - have very fluid forms, almost as if they were melting over their frame, creating soft, irregular, enveloping, almost casual lines, where the fabric or leather is fixed to the shell with press-studs. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of. The Bohemian tall armchair features injected foam over an internal resin frame that sits on a steel swivel base. Very contemporary, a modern slant on a classic. This fresh approach was only possible thanks to Moroso's manual ability and know-how. As if they were working in a fashion atelier, Moroso's "tailors" treat the fabric with supreme nonchalance, transforming it at will, bringing it to life and giving shape to the designer's vision. Please note: one matching 23" seat cushion is included with your order. This product can also be ordered without a seat cushion (please call for to order). All other cushions seen in pictures are not included. Back side is covered in matching upholstery. Covers are removable. Tall armchair: 39.25" d | 36.25" w | 40.25" h | seat: 15" h | 23.5" d | base: 20.5" w.
