Design Verner Panton, 1970. Laminated structure, foam upholstery. Made in Germany by Vitra. "Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using color. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting." -Verner Panton. The Amoebe was originally dreamed up for Panton's Visiona installation. It is a marvelous example of close-to-the-floor lounge furniture and embodies the spirit of the early 70's. Amoebe highback has a flexible backrest that curves over the head of the sitter, forming a sculptural canopy. In this way, Amoebe highback creates a sense of shelter and seclusion - especially in large, open spaces. As one of the most influential and remarkable designers of the era, Verner Panton has created objects, spaces and art. His original, space age designs have won numerous awards and been exhibited in museums and private collections around the world. • Hay Blow lounge chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
The lounge chair Blow refers to the classic bean bag in construction and appearance. Both of them are exclusively manufactured from stuffing and fabrics but without the obvious disadvantages of the bean bag such as lack of firmness and comfort. The idea for the chair evolved from a wish to improve and industrialize the expensive process of upholstery of furniture where much of the work is done by hand. With Blow designers Foersom and Hiort-Lorenzen have taken on the challenge of reversing the moulding process in order to facilitate mass production – that is to cover the mould with the fabric and shoot the foam into the fabric rather than covering the set foam with fabric. This technology is used by the car industry to make seats firm but without losing the softness. Manufacturer: Hay. Design: Johannes Foersom , Peter Hiort-Lorenzen. Size: Width 87 cm, height 62 cm, seat height 37 cm. Material: Polyurethan foam, upholstery. Color: Black.

  • Muuto - Visu Lounge Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Visu is the result of a design process which nearly took two jears: Muuto presents Visu, a lounge chair which is clear and unobtrusive, without acting fantasy-less. It is about the details that make the Visu lounge chair by the designer Mika Tolvanen this special: Each edge, each rounding and the interplay of forms were more and more adapted to each other in a clever process, until Muuto and Mika Tolvanen were 100% satisfied with the result. The Finnish designer explained about his Visu: ”It was an aim of designing a personal interpretation of the classic plywood chair. I wanted to create a chair which was unobtrusive, timeless and ergonomic, without it acting kind of boring.” The Visu collection by Muuto includes a non-cushioned edition besides an upholstered lounge chair as well as a dining and conference table with a skids frame. We are excited about what models might follow.

  • Driade Nemo Armchair
    SOLD OUT: More info
"Fabio Novembre uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating stories in which the protagonist is often the human figure (or parts of it). This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythicized beauty as occurred in Greek art where heroes (assuredly ""dark and hairy"") took on proportionate and divine features in sculptures. In 2008, Fabio Novembre brought a mysterious reclined lady to life on the Divina lounger, and so with this new piece it is with all the more reason that Fabio seems to state the possibility of ""anthropomorphic design"". In fact, in Nemo a face with classic features is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant. Tall enough to protect the person, and designed to be used outside and inside alike, Nemo has the power to turn any habitat into a theatrical scene. And whoever uses it becomes the protagonist in a story!" In detail: Type : Armchair. Colour : Grey. Material : Polyethylene. Dimensions : W 90 cm x D 83 cm x H 135 cm - Seat H 41 cm. Characteristics : Indoor use only.
  • Vitra - Monopod Armchair
    SOLD OUT: More info
An iconic piece of furniture by the advocate of “new simplicity”: Jasper Morrison’s Monopod of 2008 is a sculpture in the room, which reminds us of objects out of stone or wood with its shape. Massive and heavy is how the Monopod stands on the floor and it gets younger in an elegant cone-like backrest. Monopod comes together with sofas and bigger loungers in the living room as a small visitors’ armchair, and it represents public areas thanks to its solid construction – which also makes it wonderfully suitable for entrance halls. The construction of the armchair with an interior cushioned plastic seat ensures the precise shape of the Monopod even when it is used for a longer time, and it simultaneously offers exceptional sitting comfort. The corpus of the Vitra Monopod consists of polyethylene. Seat and backrests are cushioned with comfortable polyurethane foam, while the outside is coated with leather.
  • Vitra - Amoebe Armchair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Verner Panton created several versions of the Amoebe for his famous Visiona installation in 1970. The revolutionary home concepts from that time are still current and even modern. Verner Panton was humorous – how else could the armchair have been called Amoebe? The idol of nature also ensures that Panton’s designs are timeless and don’t know any design eras. The Vitra made Amoebe embodies the happy-cheeky spirit of the early 1970s as a ground-based piece of furniture: Conventional chairs weren’t demanded anymore, it was about low, comfortable furniture instead, which were reusable. The Amoebe Armchair is ergonomically suitable to the human body in its organic and one-piece design, completely according to its unicellular model. Vitra manufactures the harmonically designed armchair in a laminated structure with foam cushioning, coated with the sophisticated Tonus fabric by Kvadrat.
  • Vitra - C1 Armchair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Verner Panton already pre-recorded the shapes of the Pop Art in the 1950s. His reduced and still bribing C1 Armchair still bribes with his design clearness. Verner Panton’s career as designer reached its first climax in the end of the 1950s: The Danish pre-recorded elements of Pop Art with geometric furniture series and he clearly admitted the Scandinavian modern elegance of shaping with the processing of his frames. The most famous models of this series are those he initially made for a restaurant: Cone Chairs and Heart Cone Chairs. Verner Panton used the form of a half-sphere for the C1 Armchair, which is produced by Vitra, for the first time: Stored in a position which allows turning it and slightly inclined, the cushioned seat offers high comfort – for relaxing hours as well as to sit upright. The C1 is usable in private homes, hotels or receptions because of its clear shape, and it therefore looks even more gorgeous together with more of its kind. Vitra manufactures the C1 Armchair out of a stainless steel frame, a laminated plastic bowl and a polyurethane seat. The soft foam ergonomically adapts to the body, ensuring relaxing seat comfort.

  • Zanotta - Throw Away Armchair

Its name is today not understandable literally and hearkens that the original used foam was so cheap, that a new cover of the furniture would not be payable, and that one could throw it away and buy a new sampler. With a design-classic like that, it is advised against this action. The armchair and the sofa with the originally intended flat plastic covers became popular, before they later used other fabrics and leather as cover. Throw Away is an armchair, available as 2- and as 3-seater-sofa and convinces through its absolute timeless design. The stool of the series "Throw Away" is also available, as well as other cover fabrics and colour versions.

  • Vitra - Miniature Wiggle Side Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
As early as the 1960s, cardboard furniture emerged as a cheap and light alternative to traditional furniture. At that time, slotting and folding as well as supports were used to ensure that the cardboard could bear sufficient weight. Nevertheless, cardboard furniture hardly had a chance against plastic furniture, which was equally light. Frank O. Gehry discovered a process which enabled cardboard furniture to be made in massive blocks – cardboard sculptures, as it were. »One day I saw a stack of corrugated cardboard in my office; it was the material I used to build my architectural models. And I started playing around with it, gluing it together and then cutting it into shape with a handsaw and a pocket-knife«. Gehry called the material made of corrugated cardboard glued in layers that ran at right angles to each other »Edge Board«. In 1972 he brought out a series of extraordinarily stable cardboard furniture called »Easy Edges«. The original of the Wiggle Side Chair was designed by Frank O. Gehry in 1972 and it is produced as 1:1 model by the Vitra AG, Basel/Switzerland since 1992. The here offered miniature by Vitra (scale 1:6) consists of polyurethane and leather.

  • Hay - Little Nobody Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
The designer of the Danish duo Komplot were the first ones who created an industrial-produced chair, which is only made f textile canvas. Nobody is formed out of one piece and was produced in only one phase, which solution is a plain, light and stackable modern chair, which copes up with the demands of our time in the materials and production ways. The innovative chair won many famous Design Prizes (like the Design Plus Award 2009, Forum AID Award 2008). Its shape reminds of a piece of fabric, which is put on a chair, to protoct it. Will the chair be taken away from it, will the shape still be like it was before, and the fabric itself is the construction. That's why it is called Nobody – no body. Also the name bears on the chair which is hidden under the chair and not used. With Nobody the designers Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen turn the idea of the modernism inside out. Cushions have never been assessed, because they hide the basic structure of a furniture piece. While they kept the basic thought of the modernism with the demand for simplicity, easyness and the possibilities of the mass-production, the complot-duo removed the base in favour of cushioning, which becomes to the basic element. The chair is only made of form-pressed PET-Felt, a material which can be recycled to 100%, and which is made of recyclable plastic bottles. It is made out of one cast - neither a supporting frame, nor screws, plastic, glue, joints, or other connecting elements. The same technique is used in the mobile industry, to produce storing places and shorings for trunks. Nobody is also available in other colours.

  • Vitra - Organic Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen created a comfortable chair with their Organic Chair in 1940, which was one step ahead in its time: The piece of furniture is still highly current today. The Organic Chair: A comfortable small reading armchair – emerged in 1940 as contribution for the competition “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” by the Museum of Modern Arts in New York. The cooperation of both design legends Eames and Saarinen was successful: Formally the different variants of the Organic Chair went one step ahead in their time. The armchair however, couldn’t be produced in series, because of a lack of production techniques. Only after 1950 it was possible to produce organic shaped seats and distribute in larger amounts, this is how also Charles and Ray Eames’ famous Plastic Armchair and Saarinen’s Tulip Chair were finally distributed. The Organic Chair is also available as Organic Highback armchair, with a higher backrest and larger and wider armrests. The Organic Conference edition is suitable to be used at tables. Moreover there are different fabrics for it selectable.

  • Cappellini - Knotted Chair
    SOLD OUT: More info
Already shortly after ist appearance in the year 1996 the Knotted Chair from Marcel Wanders is considered a modern classic. Through refined connection of classic handicraft art and modern materials is the perfect embodiment of Wanders’ design philosophy and a piece of furniture that couldn’t be more fascinating. The Knotted Chair that is produced by the Italian manufacturer Cappellini is still totally made out of carbon and aramid cords. The cords are firstly artfully knotted with each other like in the classic handicraft art, until the form of the Knotted Chair appears. This still shaky and soft construction is impregnated by epoxy resin and hanged in a frame to dry. The gravity finally brings the chair into its eventual form and the epoxy resin fixes this one and makes the chair stabile. The transformation of the soft and flat cords to a stabile and three-dimensional object is fascinating. Bit the light look deceives: Through the modern parts and construction methods, the Knotted Chair from Cappellini is robust and designed for daily uses as every other chair. Marcel Wanders gets a large part of his inspiration from already existing and old things according to his own statement. “ I am inspired by what already is ”, therefore Wanders’ trademark is the combination of aready popular and wholly new elements, the Knotted Chair is the perfect example for it. Originally Marcel Wanders designed his Knotted Chair in the year 1996 within the context of the Dry Tech I projects from Droog Design. Meanwhile the armchair is produced by the Italian manufacturer Cappellini.
