Last night I watched this programme on National Geographic called Wild Russia. This particular episode went into what they called 'the secret forest' which was absolutely incredible. The show was able to spot the Amur tiger and this is what made me so heartsore and angry. According to the show this magnificent creature is on the critically endangered list of cats and in fact there are only 300 of these animals left in the wild. 300!! Their life expectancy in the wild, solely because of poaching, is ten years. I watched in amazement as this beautiful 350kg animal rolled around happily in the snow and I wondered to myself who would rather have the tiger dead and made into a furry hat or coat as opposed to seeing him walk through his forest. By the time I have children the only place to see the Amur tiger will be in zoos and that is a tragedy. We have forgotten that we don't own this planet, we are merely protecting it for future generations and at the rate we're going, we're not doing a very good job. It makes me sad.
I would like to thank Tara for the Lea Michelle icon!
