“You look so awesome.” Kira said to me as she lounged in the armchair in my walk-in closet as I was putting on a nude lipstick.
“Thank you, love. You sure you don’t want to come with us?” I asked as I took my Alexander McQueen dress coat off the hanger.
“To a charity dinner with you and your fiancé?” She chuckled, “No, I’ll pass. And I’m going out for sushi with Leone, Damien and Lana later.”
“I just know about Damien.” I said as I narrowed my eyes at her.
“I told you about Leone, hot one, he’s D.’ best friend and Lana is D’s stupid girlfriend.” Kira said, rolling her eyes.
“Oh, yes. I’m sorry babe. I’m a bit frazzled these days.” I sat down next to her and took a sip of my whiskey.
“Because of the engagement?” She asked with a sympathetic look in her eyes.
“Well, yes. Also life as a whole. I have some business plans and I have to find a good partner to work with and that’s pretty hard to find since I lost my best.” I said thinking of Christian. I needed something stolen and I needed to find someone trustworthy and skillful to do the job. Christian was the best and he wasn’t the option anymore.
“You’ll figure it out.” Kira smiled warmly at me, squeezing my hand.
“How are you sweetie, you like Paris?” I ask as I pull myself together after another mouthful of alcohol.
“OMG! Love it!” She says with great enthusiasm, “I’m moving to your old apartment in two days and I’m planning on having a get-together. That’s when you can meet all my new friends!”
“Lovely! Do you need help with that?”
“Hm, I need a great decorator, do you know someone?” Kira asks as she sips her diet cola through the straw. “I want to make the place more /me/, you know?”
“Yes, of course. Luke, my assistant can help you with everything you need. I’ll give you his number, you can call him tomorrow.” I say as I stand up and then lean in to kiss her pretty blonde head. “I have to go now sweetheart, Aleksey is waiting for me. Have fun tonight!”
“You too sis!”
“My fiancée looking as radiant as ever!” Aleksey says as his chauffeur holds the door for me and I enter the limo.
“Hello darling!” I greet him as I slide next to him and give him a peck on the lips. “You look handsome as well.”
“Well, thank you my lady.” He looks at me with a fire in his eyes and a wicked grin. “Jake, put on some BB King.” He says to his chauffeur and hands me a glass of whiskey.
BB King’s ‘Sweet Little Angel’ plays from the speakers and Aleksey runs his fingers through my hair and buries his nose in my neck, kissing me softly. “I love that you said ‘yes’.”, he whispers and I can feel his smile on my neck, “I have something special for you tonight, future wife.” He says as he raises his head again and looks at me with his lovely face just an inch away from mine.
“Oh really?” I say as I bite my lower lip and he slowly nods before kissing me passionately.
After a 40minute ride I knew that we aren’t going to the charity dinner that we were planed on attending. And I knew exactly where we were. We were at the Palace of Versailles and it actually made me really excited.
“I know how much you love it.” Aleksey said sweetly as the car stopped.
We were led to beautifully decorated Cotelle Gallery and left alone with my favorite bottle of champagne. I was speechless. I mean, I never expected anything less from Aleksey but this really got me. I looked around the beautiful room and when I turned around I saw Aleksey on his knees smiling widely. My heart throbbed and I had to get my hands to my chest to calm myself.
“Ina” He took a deep breath and started speaking as I heard the sweet sound of violin playing and looked over to see the violinist, “Since the moment I met you I knew that you are special. So special and so unique and so wonderful and angelic but still exciting and somewhat dangerous self…” He spoke with passion and leaned closer to take my hand and squeeze it, “I always saw my future wife in you and I thank you for seeing me as your future husband. I love you Ina. Will you marry me?” Aleksey asked as he pulled out huge diamond ring out of his pocket.
“Yes Yes!” I almost squealed with happiness as this whole romantic scene left the girl in me touched to the bone.
Aleksey swiftly slid the huge diamond on my finger and stood up to grab me in his arms and kiss me lovingly, cupping my head, his face shining with happiness and bliss.
“I love you.” He whispers in my ear and in this ecstatic haze I whisper back “I love you too.”, actually meaning it at this moment because of apparent vision of this man to put the entire world under my feet.
Man with the violin stops playing, claps and then comes up to congratulate us in native Russian.
“Ina, this is my dear friend, Sergei Krylov. Thank you so much, Sergei!”
Sergei leaves us and after we have a delicious dinner we head back to the city.
“I would like you to stay with me, in my, I mean, our house, now that we’re officially engaged.” I say to Aleksey in the car.
“Yes?” He asks a bit surprised but collected and cool as always. “I thought that I would buy you a place.” He grins at me as I shook my head returning the smile.
“I fought to get The Foch Mansion so badly, I don’t want to live anywhere else for now, it’s big, it’s beautiful, and it’s the perfect place for us.” I say as I squeeze his hand and look at him deeply in the eyes, knowing that he’s unable to say no.
His tense face relaxes into a smile as he slowly nods, “Ok, but I’m getting us a weekend home.”
“Sure, why not!” I click his glass of champagne with mine and kiss his cheek.
“I’ll make arrangements to move my necessary belongings in tomorrow. But hopefully I can stay with you tonight.” He says as he returns my kiss.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
