  • Mater Shell Lounge Chair - Brown Saddle Leather, Soaped Oak
    shophorne.com
The Shell Chair is developed out of Michael Dreebens ongoing interest in traditional craft practices in North India - in this case saddle making. Exquisitely made saddles have been produced in India for centuries, and although some horse culture persists, it's waning as India becomes more technologically developed. The Shell Chairs attempt to incentivize this skilled trade by providing these artisans with a new market for their craft, and hopefully encouraging them to pass it on to younger generations. The shape of the chair is an homage to Scandinavian design of the mid-twentieth century and embraces some of its core values: it's clean of line and is intended to emphasize the leather forming and stitching, it's deeply comfortable, and it's durable – like the saddles it's derived from, it's crafted from thick, top-grain leather, and with reasonable care, will last for decades. Frame: Soaped Oak. Leather: Premium brown saddle leather

  • Bernhardt Design Cp1 Lounge Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Charles Pollock, 2012. Polished stainless steel frame, upholstery. Made in USA by Bernhardt Design. In 2012, the 82-year-old Charles Pollock introduced his first new product in America since the debut of his iconic Pollock Chair forty-seven years earlier. Likened by the iconic designer to a classic Jaguar sports car, the CP Lounge chair blends a sleek, aerodynamic stainless steel frame with a luxurious natural leather seat and exquisite craftsmanship to create a truly timeless functional piece of art. The CP lounge is available with either a classic hand-quilted seat reminiscent of vintage car upholstery, or with a streamlined contemporary seat with distinctive stitched-line detailing. Pollock's designs were governed by two principles. Creatively, he favored a continuous curved line when sketching ideas and creating forms. The second principle was that any product must be visually attractive, functional, and affordable. His designs were technically advanced, yet easy to manufacture at a reasonable price. Pollock is the recipient of numerous awards and his work is exhibited in many museums around the world. CP1 lounge chair features a polished stainless steel frame and a hand-quilted seat and back with a looped stitched cording tracing the perimeter of the chair. It is available in your choice of a variety of felt and leather upholstery options. You may select a contrasting looped stitching color from the selection provided, or Bernhardt Design will select the color that best matches the felt/leather selection. 27" w | 33.25" d | 28.5" h | seat: 16.4" h.
