  • Ross Dining Armchair
Classic wicker gets a sophisticated update with pared-down lines, deep comfort and unique materials. In lieu of split rattan, our dining chair is crafted of Lloyd Loom, a woven material made from paper tightly twisted around strong, flexible steel wire. Invented in 1917, this durable, man-made "cane" enables a finer, more delicate-looking weave, which suits our seating's modern point of view. Accented with chrome foot caps. 25"W 24"D x 34"H. Crafted of Lloyd Loom, a wicker-woven material made from twisted paper and steel wire. Gently flared arms and a squared-off back lend modern style to a classic wicker silhouette. A rattan pole frame makes it strong but lightweight. Available in a Black or Bronze painted finish, sealed with clear lacquer. Chrome nickel foot caps. In-Home delivery with White Glove service.

  • Eero Saarinen Saarinen Executive Armchair with Metal Legs - Leather
The design of Eero Saarinen's Executive Armchair (1950) began more than a decade earlier, when he and Charles Eames submitted several designs to the Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition at the MoMA. The pair, who'd been friends and collaborators since meeting at Cranbrook Academy of Art, won first prize. These fluid, sculptural shapes influenced the future work of both men; for Saarinen, most notably in his Womb, Tulip and Executive chairs. The Executive was originally made of fiberglass but was later updated in polyurethane to take advantage of the technical advances in plastics. The feel of this classic seat, however, remains unchanged. The molded shell flexes slightly with the sitter and the contoured plywood seat supported by metal or wood legs. Unlike Saarinen's furniture, which was consistently sculptural in form, these fluid lines didn't appear in his architecture until the 1950s. When looking at the dome-shaped glass wall of the Kresge Auditorium at MIT, it's not a big leap to see the same shape in the back of his Executive Chair. This chair is Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified¿ for its use of low-emitting products. Manufactured by Knoll according to the original and exacting specifications of the designer. Made in U.S.A.

  • Shell Dining Chair By Mater
The Shell Chair is developed out of Michael Dreebens ongoing interest in traditional craft practices in North India - in this case saddle making. Exquisitely made saddles have been produced in India for centuries, and although some horse culture persists, it's waning as India becomes more technologically developed. The Shell Chairs attempt to incentivize this skilled trade by providing these artisans with a new market for their craft, and hopefully encouraging them to pass it on to younger generations. The shape of the chair is an homage to Scandinavian design of the mid-twentieth century and embraces some of its core values: it's clean of line and is intended to emphasize the leather forming and stitching, it's deeply comfortable, and it's durable – like the saddles it's derived from, it's crafted from thick, top-grain leather, and with reasonable care, will last for decades.
  • Milo Baughman 1188 Chair in Leather
    Similar item
The 1188 Chair (1968) was Milo Baughman’s favorite chair and the one with which he chose to furnish the home of business partner and friend Thayer Coggin. Given that the Coggin family could have picked any dining chair in the company’s inventory, the 1188 is something special indeed. Baughman and Coggin met in 1953 and formed a powerful partnership that lasted for five decades. The North Carolina-based company is still the exclusive manufacturer of Baughman furniture to this day. The designer’s work was included in High Styles: Twentieth Century American Design at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1985. Baughman was inducted into the Furniture Design Hall of Fame in 1987. Made in U.S.A. Natural leather is prized for its unique markings. Scars, scrapes and wrinkles are not defects. For the Ivory/Bronze chair, the bronze finish is created by hand and is not uniform. This is intentional, and the marks of the craftsman are left on the chair to add warmth and character to each piece.

  • Josef Hoffmann Hoffmann Side Chair
Josef Hoffmann is well known for the simple, restrained, yet visually interesting dining chairs – several intended for cafés – that he designed early in the 20th century. The influence of the Arts and Crafts movement can be seen in his work, but Hoffmann also embraced the industrial age. Rather than rejecting traditional decoration, he succeeded in making it serve structural principles, which he believed should determine the forms of buildings, interiors and objects. Whether admiring one of his chairs or the Sanatorium Purkersdorf he designed in 1903, you can see Hoffmann’s emphasis on straight, unadorned lines, characteristics that are in keeping with the style of the Viennese Secession. The Hoffmann Side Chair (1925), designed in collaboration with Josef Frank, is made at the bentwood factory founded by Michael Thonet in 1861. Made in the Czech Republic.
  • Michael Thonet Era Chair with Cane Seat
Defined by its dependable bentwood construction and simple, organic form, the graceful, lightweight and surprisingly strong Era Chair with Cane (1859) has been in continuous production for more than 150 years. By making the back of the chair and rear legs from a single piece of curved wood, designer Michael Thonet, who perfected the bentwood process for chair-making, eliminated the need for expensive and time-consuming hand-carved joints. The Era Chair with Cane is suitable for residential and commercial use and remains a staple in cafes and restaurants around the globe. As with any natural material, slight variations in the texture and color of the wood are to be expected and are not defects. Made in the Czech Republic.

  • CH46 Armchair Soap Oak Frame with Natural Cord Seat
The wonderfully simple oak wood CH46 and CH47 dining chairs were designed by the celebrated architect and product designer, Hans J Wegner in 1965. Made from solid oak with a hand-woven paper cord seat, the design uses timbers, sourced from responsible sawmills in Wegner’s native Denmark. Wegner was one of the most prolific designers of the 20th century, having created over 500 different chairs over the course of his career. He began work as a cabinetmaker, providing him with a profound respect for the properties and beauty of wood, as well as exacting joinery techniques. A master craftsman, he joined Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller, designing furniture pieces for the new city hall in Århus in 1940, the same year in which he began collaborating with Holger Hasen, whose company, Carl Hansen & Son continue to produce Wegner’s classic chairs, including the CH46 and the iconic Wishbone Chair.
