Tell us your name, age, profession, location and anything else you’d like to share about yourself.
Ekaterina Sadova, 31, financial analyst at an international corporation, focused on marketing investments’ effectiveness and efficiency. I live in the beautiful city of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. I love art, architecture, interior design, traveling and getting to know people from different countries and cultures. I’m fond of fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
Where do you get your interior design inspiration?
It could be different things: sometimes I see something around, in architecture, nature, a color combination, interesting artwork or a piece of furniture. Sometimes, it is a certain mood or emotion that I'd like to express through the set.
What are your favorite design trends?
Definitely minimalism, zen and contemporary. I like spacious, light and airy interiors with an interesting focal point. I'm quite keen on the functional side of interiors as well. What fascinates me the most are bold combinations put together well so that they work in harmony — like bright colors that you wouldn't normally put in one design, or a combination of different styles like industrial and glamorous, or steel and glass structures within an old, sand-brick building.
What’s your creative process on Polyvore? How do you begin creating a set?
I normally start with one piece that inspires me: interesting furniture, art or decorative item, or a room that I'd like to work with. When inspiration comes from a certain mood or emotion, I look for the item that expresses that emotion the best and work around it.
Are there any interior design professionals you are a fan of?
There are a couple of interior design websites that I look through on a regular basis, and I find amazing works of different designers there. I've recently started following Rebecca Robinson from Robinson's Designs on her YouTube channel.
What are your personal aspirations/goals?
I'm pursuing interior design as a full-time job. For now, it's more of a hobby, just something I enjoy doing. I'm happy to help friends and colleagues with designs and decorations.
I'd love to have a chance to design a hotel. I travel quite a bit and most of the hotels are rather standard and similar with not much character. Each of my hotel rooms would have its own character while providing a great rest and being functional and convenient to the guest.
My biggest ambition is to restore an amazingly beautiful building in my hometown and convert it to a cultural center promoting arts and healthy lifestyles.
How has Polyvore affected your life?
Polyvore is an amazing place to express creativity and get inspired! Because of Polyvore, I've been able to turn my passion for interior design into something real, and the response I'm getting on my sets here made me believe in myself as a designer. All the members are very positive, extremely creative and talented, which makes Polyvore a fathomless source of positivity and inspiration!
