Meet @mercimasada, an active member living in Virginia who enjoys HGTV and is inspired by retro design. Learn more about her below!
Tell us your name, age, profession, location and anything else you’d like to share about yourself.
My name is Tiffany, but I respond to any of my nicknames: Tiffers, Tiff Tiff and my favorite — Tiffie. I have entirely too many variations of my name, but I love them all because a different someone special gave me each one! I am 39 years old, and I am employed by a financial institution in Virginia. I share my life with my dedicated hubby, wonderful son and rambunctious Yorkie. I recently started swimming lessons, which absolutely proves you're never too old to try something new! Make me laugh and you have my attention!
Where do you get your interior design inspiration?
I'm inspired by shapes, colors and fabric design. I love pulling from the past and trying to recreate retro looks. I believe style is timeless and a great piece can withstand decades. I also enjoy viewing the sets of my fellow Polyvorians … it really puts me in the mood to create and try something different.
What are your favorite design trends?
Geometric shapes, bold colors, mid-century design and repurposing different objects.
What’s your creative process on Polyvore? How do you begin creating a set?
I recently started creating interior design sets. I typically create fashion sets, so I'm definitely a design newbie. I've been taking my cues from Polyvore contests. The contest themes really provide the structure and inspiration I need to get started. After I have a theme, I usually try to find that wow piece that will really make the set stand out, and I build from there.
Are there any interior design professionals you are a fan of?
I'm a huge HGTV fan. I'm a big fan of many of their show hosts, particularly Sarah Richardson. She has such a great sense of style, and she always has unique ideas. Sarah has a great sense of personal style as well, which I adore. Jonathan Adler has quickly become a fave, and I'm [a big fan of] his furniture line.
What are your personal aspirations/goals?
Complete my swim lessons, finish all of my scrapping projects, take a creative writing class and get started on my bucket list!
How has Polyvore affected your life?
Polyvore is like my safe place. I get to escape from my world a little and connect with different people from across the globe to see what styles they think are hot, how they view art and how they would design their living spaces. I’m thankful for the site because it has introduced me to new brands and new people, and enhanced my creativity.
What is your favorite Polyvore feature?
Definitely the editor! My imagination gets to have a play date everyday!
