@trickster-kat OH, I am so sorry to hear of the agony your mother must have endured as a result of serving her country. Any casualties of war are challenging to deal with - and few women were ever recognized for their contributions in defense work. God bless her and you!

This is a lovely set @parmelia I was out at the National Cemetary this weekend visiting my mother's grave. She's also a veteran, and died for her country not during a war, but because she was out there as one of the first women working on inspecting the planes and she was exposed to Asbestos, which eventually had its nasty way with her lungs, 10 years ago this October will mark the anniversary of when the Asbestos won and the lung cancer won and my mother passed away. Many casualties of war happen, some more easy to reconcile (like my mother's) than your brother's. Bless his soul.

I have nothing to say that @gaberina and @kateolive haven't said. I'm sorry for the lost of your brother. I wish no man had to die fighting, it's a horrible thing. May God Bless you and your family and America! @parmelia

@kateolive @gaberina Thank you very much for your kind words, Ladies. Such an outreach and expressions of love are comforting and appreciated to thus of us who have lost a loved one in battle. God bless all who have made the ultimate sacrifice!

We are all grateful to your brother, Parmelia, and feel deeply for your terrible loss. Memorial Day is the holiday that affects me the most. Even for those who came home whole and died at their age, and who served with the whole country behind them, even those came home with seared souls and things they won't talk about. I think that is why I feel I feel we must celebrate as well as mourn, because that's what they paid so much for us to do. I will be thinking of you throughout this day.
