What is the most important night of the year in the fashion world? Some might argue it’s the Academy Awards, but while the Oscars certainly call for celebrities to dress to impress, there may be no bigger fashion event than the annual Met Gala. Each year, New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts a ball to kick off its year-long Costume Institute exhibit. The chief organizer of the event is fashion’s favorite, most respected editor, Anna Wintour. The editor-in-chief of Vogue, with her signature bob and choker necklace, Wintour plans the event and determines who gets onto the guest list and who doesn’t. The annual ball consistently brings out the entertainment and fashion industries’ elites, and they’re always well-dressed. This year’s theme was a tribute to Charles James. James is remembered as America’s First Couturier and in his honor, celebrities and fashion’s top brass came out in big jewels and some over-the-top gowns. Met Gala 2014 brought out Met Gala regulars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce and Gisele Bundchen, but it also brought notable (some notable for their dresses, others in spite of them) newcomers such as Cara Delevingne, Chanel Iman and Lupita Nyong’o. Interestingly, Wintour reportedly said she’d never invite a Kardashian, but Kim Kardashian, who starred on the cover of Vogue a few months ago along with fiance Kanye West, made it to this year’s Met Gala. (Also present was Kardashian’s half-sister Kendall Jenner, a model who looked quite appropriate in a Topshop — that’s right, Topshop! — gown for fashion’s most important event.) There were several color themes in the ensembles worn by guests to Met Gala 2014. The outfits really ran the gamut, with stars wearing black & white, pinks & reds, navy and metallics. Black & white: Beyonce dazzled in a sparkly black gown by Givenchy; the same designer outfitted her husband, Jay Z. Rihanna looked electric with her hair, looking Medusa-like in all the right ways, in a white ensemble by Stella McCartney and a flash of skin between the crop top and long skirt. Cara Delevingne, a model with remarkably strong eyebrows who is fashion’s favorite IT Girl of the moment, also wore Stella McCartney (see picture at top right); Delevingne’s outfit may have been the most daring of the evening. Victoria Beckham glowed in a strapless white column of her own design, while Vera Wang, Sara Jessica Parker, Kristen Wiig, Charlize Theron and Gabrielle Union all looked great in their black and/or white ensembles. Pinks & reds: Emma Stone wore a sleek interpretation of the crop-top-and-skirt combo, but what, other than cool sophistication, can you expect from designer Thakoon? Kate Bosworth wore a bare-backed, dusty rose column by Stella McCartney; a beautiful dress in its own right but it failed to impress amidst so many other stunning outfits. Taylor Swift wore pale pink Oscar de la Renta. Naomi Campbell and Reese Witherspoon also wore pink, and Anne Hathaway stood out in a daring red Calvin Klein look with a sliver of midriff and a mid-thigh split. Navy: Kim Kardashian wore a black-and-navy-blue Lanvin dress, and the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, looked a little matronly in voluminous vintage Chanel gowns. Metallics: Lily Aldridge looked both bored and slightly amused while wearing a silver Michael Kors gown, but it was Blake Lively who wore a metallic gown best. Wearing rose gold Gucci, Lively looked, well, lively and gorgeous. The hair, the body, the long train of the gown, all of it worked perfectly. The gowns, top-and-skirt combos and pants looks were a sight, but sadly, many of them were accessorized to little effect. Sure, diamonds are beautiful, but it’s the unexpected elements that stand out the most. Here is our list of… 11 Best Accessories at Met Gala 2014 First up on our list of the 11 best accessories worn to the Met Gala this year are two great — and very different — headpieces. Beyonce and Kate Upton know how to top off a look. Not only did the mother and worldwide superstar look outrageously hot — and still totally classy — in her sparkling Gucci gown

@fashion-law you have to click on each individual picture then go and save it from the original website where they came from to get the HD version. Just click the imagine and follow the pic to its website then right click and save the ones you want to use as your background. I hope this helps.

Some are great as always, others are a hot mess. It seems like a lot of the satin red carpet gowns are looking more ill fitted than ever lately.
