  • Edgar Allan POE Art Print - Crow Raven holding Edgar Allan POE on antique book Page POE Art Print
    etsy.com
Edgar Allan POE Art Print Crow Raven holding Edgar Allan POE on antique book Page POE Art Print. He's got the whole Poe in his hands! lol Its show n tell time for our Raven Crow as he shows off his mini Edgar Allan Poe. We added Mr. Poe;'s head onto a little man's body illustration we found in a antique book and made a print of that as well calling it Bobblehead Poes. You can see that print and our series of crow raven prints in our Bird Section and Whimsical Curiosities Sections. This listing is for one Antique Crow Raven holding Edgar Allan Poe Art Print. OUR ORIGINAL DESIGN & CONCEPT All of our prints may be ordered on MUSIC sheet book pages too. Please leave us a note when checking out as to your preference. Paper: We use gorgeous antique book pages from 1883-1890. The pages are two and three column pages with borders, considered in that day to be high end publishing as opposed to the common three page column, no border style used for lower budget publishing. The pages were printed in the 1800's by running the page through first for the text, then back again through the printer for the beautiful borders. We are the first shop to use the book pages for our prints which come from four separate books. All of which are represented in the photos of our prints. We spent an enormous amount of time researching to find our beautiful book pages for you before opening our shop in Feb 2010. The books we use are very rare and very expensive. We are also the first shop to use banners and quotes. All which are apart of our Black Baroque signature style. Print Size: The page size is 8 x 10 inches or 20.3 x 25.4 cm. Illustrations: All of our illustrations are dated from the time period between the 16th and 18th centuries. We have been collecting rare antique books for years. We have antiquarian book dealers who search for engravings, lithographs, chromolithographs, for us in the USA and in Europe. Our favorite books are miniature books from one inch to 1.5 inches in size, gold leafed pages, leather bound. Our favorite of all our collection of antique books is an antique Cinderella Book you can see on our flickr page. The link is in our profile. About your print: You will receive one book page but not the exact book page as shown in this listing as they come from one book making each page one of a kind. Please keep in mind that one of the reasons we use antique books pages besides their beauty and that they make for an interesting read, is to also to recycle giving them new life. We find that there is a loss of love of antique books except with antiquarian collectors and dealers, and in using antique book pages we feel we are helping to keep a part of history and its beauty alive. In the spirit of saving the past and recycling, we use book pages for our prints that have character flaws with spotting, uneven printing and corner bending adding antique charm to the pages. All of our book pages have that gorgeous golden color that only comes from age. The frame is not included. We do not sell them and we do not know where you can buy them. Your print will be packaged in a clear plastic sleeve, with a cardboard insert to protect the print while being shipped. It is shipped in a large white mailer. The prints hanging in the room photos are enlarged only so that you may see them more clearly as an example of them on a wall. The actual size is not depicted. We offer Flat Rate Shipping to all of our customers all around the world. Flat rate shipping means you are only charged one price per order no matter how many prints you buy. For example: if you order 10 prints, and you live in the USA, you would be charged only $3 to ship all of your prints. Please read our shop policies before purchasing. We hold the copyrights to all of our prints. Delighted you stopped by Alexandra & Poni

Vintage children's books always ellicit the same response from me. I clasp my hands together and gasp and my eyes get all misty... let's just say, I ADORE them. I could probably fill an entire house with them if I had my way. But this one is extra special. This is Little Ballerina by Dorothy Grider from 1958. You might remember Dorothy's charming illustrations from this post last year? It's ever so dear to my heart. I really can't decide who is cuter, the little ballerina or her puppy dog?

  • Paravent Metamorphosis of Woman By Leonor Fini
    vandm.com
Leonor Fini (Argentina 1907-1996 Paris) Four of eight serigraphs by world famous Surrealist painter, author, costume and set designer and graphic artist, Leonor Fini, shown here attached to a screen. These panels are available framed in ornate brushed gold, carved frames and may be viewed in New York at this time. The edition originally consisted of 135 sets, however, a number of pieces were damaged in a flood in a German museum, and only 120 sets survived. Each of the four pieces measures 60X18 inches - 66 X 24 inches, framed. One of the silkscreens comprising the set is signed. Number 50/120/ Printed in Germany by Dietz Offizin, the Paravent is perhaps Fini's most famous graphic work and is documented in numerous books on the artist. Leonor Fini was born and lived in Argentina as a young child until she was taken by her mother to Trieste, Italy. This “kidnapping” to flee her tyrannical Neapolitan father situated the child, often disguised as a boy, in the heart of a bohemian lifestyle. Self taught, Fini painted portraits and at age seventeen, moved to Paris. Her beauty is legendary with poems written about her and love letters to her by the preeminent poets and artists of the day. Fini, always fiercely independent, painted from her dreams and became associated with Andre Breton, Dali, Ernst, but never formally joined the Surrealist Movement. She was inspired by the Pre-raphaelites as well as by Klimt, Munch and Beardsley. She lived surrounded by pieces of Art Nouveau and Art Deco and at one point, surrounded by as many as twenty-two cats. Her residence remained in Paris, although she summered either in Corsica, where she took over a monastery or in St. Dye Sur Loire, in a home built with left over materials from the various chateaus of the region. Her first one-person exhibition took place at the Galerie Barbaroux in Milan in 1929 followed by a second exhibition in Paris, at the Galerie Bonjean in 1932. By 1936 she had caught the attention of Julian Levy who showed her work as well as Alfred H. Barr, who included three of her pieces in the ground breaking Dada and Surrealism Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in 1936. She spent the summer of 1939 in St. Martin d’ Ardeche with her friends, among them – Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington as well as Salvador Dali. Although Fini is best known for her paintings of goddesses, felines and imaginary creatures – particularly the sphinx, involved in ritualistic worship, she was also a fine book illustrator, costume and scenery designer, decorative arts designer (having designed the perfume bottle for Elsa Schiaparelli’s “Shocking” in the shape of a female’s torso with flowers at the neck, providing the original illustration used on the Chateau Mouton Rothschild Reserve wine vintage of 1956 and costumes, décor and furniture for the Paris Opera and Ballet).
