  • Novoform - FLight 55 Pendant Lamp
    connox.com
FLight 55 is the largest lamp of the FLight series by Novoform and Bjarne Urhammer. The pendant lamp has been created to harmonize with light. It is more a light sculpture than a simple lamp and it supports the light’s characteristics. The pendant lamp appears as kit for self-assembly. The FLight 55’s sheets hide the E27 illuminant inside of it, but still allowing the light to shine outwards unhindered. The light shines through the sheets while it simultaneously trespasses the white material transforming FLight 55 into a radiant sculpture. The pendant lamp’s sheets consist of a special lamp shade-foil out of PVC that doesn’t attract any powder. The lamp’s shade consists of 55 single sheets that can be connected without any problems with an uncomplicated closing mechanism. To explain the assembly there are written and DVD instructions included in the delivery package. Also the necessary mounting hardware is included. The terminated shade can be removed from the lamp whenever you want, without any problems and without damaging the electronics. The lamp shade can be cleaned with a cloth or feather duster as well as briefly showered. The interior construction from FLight 55 leads the bulb’s heat away from the lamp shade so that the white material doesn’t lose its colour. We suggest an E27 illuminant with max. 60 Watt for the lamp to run. The design of the FLight lamp was coined by Bjarne Urhammer. The sheets design ornaments a total of three pendant lamps: FLight 28, 35 and 55. The single lamps differ by the number of sheets, this means that also their size and complexity of the shade. Novoform produces the lamps directly in Denmark.

  • Artek Kiki Lounge Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Ilmari Tapiovaara, 1960. Lacquered steel frame, PU foam & dacron, upholstery. Made in Finland by Artek. Tapiovaara wanted to design inexpensive furniture for a broader audience. He made use of materials that were readily available in Finland in the 1940s, such as solid birch. Later in the 1950s, he began to develop multipurpose chairs made of steel tubing and plywood. Ilmari Tapiovaara designed Kiki in 1960. It was originally conceived as a chair whose stackability allowed it to be used to seat large groups, such as in auditoriums. In the Kiki series Tapiovaara employed a more clean cut design idiom instead of the more organic style he had favored previously. Instead of wood, he chose oval steel tubing as the structural and unifying element of the whole Kiki collection. Kiki was a success, establishing the current direction for furniture design at this time. Kiki's timeless and elegant design idiom has made it one of the most popular pieces of public furniture in Finland. Llmari Tapiovaara was one of the greatest interior architects and designers of his era. With the mind of an explorer and a soul of a craftsman, Tapiovaara was always seeking for new solutions to improve everyday objects. During his long career Tapiovaara created dozens of iconic objects loved by the public. He was revered as a master of characteristic and human objects and surroundings who captured the essence of Finnish identity. Ilmari Tapiovaara was awarded a total of six gold medals at the Milan Triennials as well as many other important awards throughout his career. 23.6" W | 29.5" d | 26.7" h | seat: 15.4" h.
