It was in 1947 that George Nelson became inspired by a self webbing material used to moth-ball ships in New York and convinced himself it would be perfect for lighting.     A mid-century classic, George Nelson first designed the Bubble Lamp in 1947 for Howard Miller. The firm eventually discontinued the line in 1979. In the 1990's Modernica reissued the Bubble Lamps to the original specifications using the original Howard Miller tooling. The Bubble Lamp is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The cigar floor lamp looks great in the living room or study.
