Monique Lhuillier Spring 2013

Justly renowned for her evening wear, Monique Lhuillier created a stunning collection for Spring 2013 at New York Fashion Week. Her black beaded, sheer gowns recalled the best of Valentino from the 90s, but the deep, metallic blues, geometric prints and watercolor rainbows were all Monique Lhuillier. Her collection showed a bell-version of the fuller A-line skirts so popular this runway season. Her tank tops also showed a version of another popular trend: racer-front straps, i.e. straps cut close to the neck, almost halter-style, revealing a lot of shoulder. As always, a few of the gowns had her traditional mermaid silhouette. Doubtless we'll see these gowns on the red carpet during gala and awards season come spring.
