  • Skargaarden Haringe Armchair
    shophorne.com
The Haringe series of teak furniture is refined elegance for indoors, outdoors or anything in between. The sophistication of the series makes it ideal for around the swimming pool, in the game room or just about anywhere. The teak slats are framed with either stainless steel or black stainless steel. The cushions are given a sophisticated touch through the use of buttons and decorative stitching so they are not waterproof but the beauty is still undeniable. The cushions are available in either a weather durable Sunbrella fabric or in imitation leather with loose patches sewn together by hand and buttons added along the seams. The leather cushions are for indoor use only. The series has an armchair, lounge chair, sofa, and cocktail tables in 2 sizes as well as 3 sizes of a dining table. As with all teak furniture, to maintain the original luster the teak requires to be oiled once or twice a year. If left untreated the wood will develop a silvery gray patina which is equally beautiful.
  • Modernica Shell Arm Chair - Rolling Base
    shophorne.com
The Case Study Fiberglass Rolling Chair is the classic office chair of choice. Modernica updated the vintage 4-star aluminum rolling base, with a contract-approved five-star base. The new five-star base surpasses the original design with an added weight-adjustable, tilt-control feature, which locks your chosen position in place. Also added is a fun to use, gas-lift height adjustment lever, for superfast height adjustments. The height is adjustable up to six-inches and the chair is easily tilted forward or back. The base rotates smoothly 360-degrees. Suitable for any corporate or home office space, this base has a five-year normal-wear guarantee. Easily one of the most important and recognizable designs of the twentieth century. The Fiberglass Shell Chairs were originally designed in 1948, as an entry in The Museum of Modern Art’s International Design Competition. At the time, no one could possibly have anticipated the massive success and longevity of this iconoclastic design. In the early fifties, fiberglass was considered an ultra-high tech material. Produced with a mixture of resin and glass fibers, it was lightweight, yet heavy-duty. Initial development and production was through Zenith Plastics—early pioneers of developing fiberglass for household and military applications. As for the chair bases, they were cleverly designed to provide a number of leg options that would be interchangeable within and between the arm shell and the side shell. The shell chairs were first available in the spring of 1950. The first runs of the chairs were produced in only three colors; griege, elephant-hide gray, and parchment—all of which had interesting translucent qualities. The chairs were distributed until 1983. In 2000, Modernica revived this potentially lost art of high-pressure, molded fiberglass. Modernica creates each shell, by hand, one-by-one, in our Los Angeles factory—just as they had been designed, developed, and produced in Southern California in the 1950s. Modernica uses all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics. To ensure authenticity of production, the initial shell chair production was overseen by Sol Fingerhut and Irv Green, the same team employed over sixty years ago to develop the original technology. Modernica creates each chair with the charge of adhering to the original tactile qualities, texture, and characteristics that alone are unique to the fiberglass shell chair. Our historic equipment has created thousands of chairs for three generations of chair lovers — and everyday Modernica continues to produce beautiful chairs for upcoming generations. Choose from a wide range of shell colors and chair base options. Modernica offers the flexibility to build a chair to suit your individual style and needs. Please note that due to the nature of fiberglass, some "hairs" may vary in darkness and color due to the singeing/burning process used to create the seat. These fibers add to the uniqueness of each chair. Handcrafted in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
  • Asplund TS Chair
    shophorne.com
Asplund is one of Sweden’s leading design and interior firms formed more than 24 years ago. Continuing with top-of-the-line quality, the Asplund collection represents simplicity and elegant design. Influenced by their Swedish heritage along with very stylish & timeless designs, Asplund is considered the best Scandinavian brand with numerous design awards such as Elle Decor, Red Dot Design and Wallpaper* magazine. Asplund's collection is produced mainly in Sweden, ensuring the highest quality, while observing ethical and environmentally friendly production processes. Asplund is aware of their social responsibility as a producer to make furniture that will last a lifetime and that several generations can enjoy. The products are designed in cooperation with well- known swedish and international designers such as Marc Newson, Jasper Morrison, Tom Dixon, Broberg Ridderstråle, Piero Lissoni, Andreas Engesvik, Thomas Sandell, Jonas Bohlin and Claesson Koivisto Rune. The TS chair was designed for the Modern Museum in Stockholm. Functionality was important, so Thomas Sandell created a stackable chair that could easily be put away. The standard color is white blended with the natural wooden color at the bottom of the legs so the chair looks like it is lifting from the floor. Typical of both Sandell and Asplund, this chair is completely contemporary while still making references to traditional rural Swedish design. Its narrow width makes it suitable for limited spaces, both at home and in restaurants. Available With Or Without Unpainted "sock" at bottom of leg. Available in other Asplund standard colors if ordering more than 4 pieces.

  • Normann Copenhagen Ace Chair
    shophorne.com
Flat-packed upholstered lounge furniture sounds like a crazy idea. Hans Hornemann considered it a requirement that the function did not involve any compromise with the design. Ace is constructed from molded plywood, covered with molded foam for the highest possible comfort. The back is flexible, which gives it a springy feeling, ensuring great sitting comfort. In order to reach the goal of this ambitious project, Normann Copenhagen has specially developed production tools, brackets, screws, legs and fabrics. Ace combines intelligent engineering with an elegant visual impression. Ace is delivered in two attractive fabrics, a vibrant velour and a flecked wool textile, as well as soft, exclusive leather. The woollen textile, “Nist”, has been developed in-house by Normann Copenhagen to complete the characteristic visual style. Nist is manufactured using an untraditional weaving technique and contains 52 percent linen, which produces an attractive natural flecking of the fabric. The velour brings Ace a seductive elegance, while Nist gives the chair a more stringent, masculine look. Ace has legs in stained beech, in the same colour tones as the fabrics for a uniform expression. The stain allows the wood’s natural flame patterns to shine through and adds a discrete play to the monochrome colour universe consisting of five inviting shades. In 2009, Peter Shire and the Modernica Studio teamed up and designed the Prince Charles Base. By combining the modern and the classic, the chair has been described as a distant cousin of Queen Anne. “Shire’s interpretation on the modern classic incorporates 300-years of furniture design into a single chair. By giving the signature shell chair a set of violin-like legs, Shire’s adds a touch of the Victorian era to the seat.” Easily one of the most important and recognizable designs of the twentieth century. All the textiles are made of lovely wool blends with vivid expression, beautiful structures and plenty of play. In addition, they are all extremely durable and suitable for intensive use. The designer duo Iskos-Berlin has returned to the essence of the chair for Just. They have taken their reference point in the shape of the chair as typically drawn by a child, that is, with legs that seem to protrude directly from the seat. They have visually transferred this effect to the Just Chair, where a chrome frame has been uniquely tucked into the underside of the shell, transforming the chair to a harmonic, natural and unified whole. Just Chair is just as beautiful when seen from below as from above. The frame is discretely tucked into the chair's molded shell, and the shell's tapering thickness gives it a friendly and welcoming expression. The point where the legs and shell meet is done with incredible elegance and accentuates the high quality of the upholstering.
