  • Normann Copenhagen Swell Armchair
    shophorne.com
Swell is a minimalistic furniture collection with a playful, light-hearted feel designed by the Swedish designer Jonas Wagell. Modular sofas and armchairs are now available, open up for even more possibilities and combinations in interior design. The Scandinavian simplicity of the design is accentuated by a stringent design without unnecessary details. In spite of this, Swell oozes with character and personality and its soft, curved shapes make it both inviting and provide a fantastic sitting comfort. The name Swell is a reference to rising bread with its full shape, consisting of a robust padded back and seat and two curvy armrests. The stitching on the back and the seats divides the sofas into sections and completes the feel. Jonas Wagell says: ”I've always been fascinated by minimalism, but I like to add a warm and personal touch to the products. I have taken the aesthetic and practical qualities that I prefer in furniture for the living room as a reference point, and in this way, Swell very much reflects my own personal taste and style”. Swell is available in a wide range of colors. The range makes it easy to find a sofa suitable for any decor by encompassing everything from neutral grey and brownish tones to deep and tranquil shades of blue and purple as well as energetic and bright yellow, green and red and a classic black. Priced in Gabriel Breeze Fusion (88 % Wool, 12 % Polyamide); other fabrics available:
  • Oscar Armchair by Matthew Hilton
    shophorne.com
The Oscar armchair strikes a pleasing balance between modernity and tradition, large in size yet light in appearance. The armchair is made from a European hardwood frame, jute webbing and hessian straps and then covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibers, animal hair and wool. It features large feather cushions that are notable for their depth, the back has a line of sewn in pulls, lending the armchair the appearance of a buttoned back, without the actual buttons. The feet are made from walnut stained beech, with the front two being turned versions. By contrasting long straight lines with delicate natural curves, Mathew Hilton has created a piece that is both reserved and full of humility. The Oscar armchair is a piece perfect for those who like their modernity laced with a little familiarity. Made in the UK. Shown here in Molly 160 Wool and Range Leather. • Stephen Kenn Inheritance Armchair - Black Canvas & Blackened Steel
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. Black canvas cushion covers, black cotton webbing and leather belts interwoven atop a blackened steel frame. Made in Los Angeles, the collection is inspired by the characteristic principles of Soviet Modernism and bold interpretations of Brutalist Architecture through the simplification of form, receptive angular geometries and functional design.

It was crucial that the upholstering and stitching were carried out with the utmost precision. I wanted to create individual chairs where each one had its own character. I did this through the variations of the high and low versions, and by the different frames available for the chair. For example, the wooden frames are flat and add warmth while the slimmer, round steel and chrome frames give a more industrial feel. Finally, the frame for the rocking chair is a slightly unexpected and playful choice for a lounge chair.” Priced with Gabriel Breeze Fusion upholstery-other materials available.

Moon was presented on the Milan furniture fair 2011 to the public for the first time and it formed the focus of the Twilight-Installation from Moroso. With water and steam, the chair was immersed in a shiny twilight so that its elegant and weightless design was especially emphasized. The designer Tokujin Yoshioka was inspired by phenomena and processes surrounding us in our natural environment. His main inspiration sources were light and shadows, as they are viewable at night near the moon, who is the name giver of the chair. That is why the Japan Yoshioka describes the design like that: ”Moon is a chair that takes its suggestion out of the beauty of the light and the shadows of the moon – an escaping moonlight that shines suddenly and disappears instantly again.” Moroso offers the Moon Chair with its transparent, airy-soft lines and the elegant design in a matt and a lacquered variant. As matt version, the chair is light-resistant and weatherproof, being adapted to indoor and outdoor use. Moon is available in white, grey and black, in both versions equally.
