    Moroso Rift Composition Sofa
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2009. Polyurethane foam, hardwood frame, polypropylene glides. Made in Italy by Moroso. Rift, to borrow the geological term for crack or fissure, is a seating system which cuts across the contemporary domestic living space. Unlike modular systems which are based on the rational use of geometry, Rift is built around an unexpected and asymmetric positioning of different volumes, an intentional randomness inspired by the unpredictability of nature. Multiple layers form relaxed seating, designed for the individual yet perfect for the public places: like tectonic plates, the different layers tend to collide and overlap giving a highly original impression of movement , transforming even the most formal space into something fluid yet without ever altering its character. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of. L composition sofa: 135.5" w | 27.25" h | 67" d | seat: 15.25" h. Cushions shown in images not included.

    Moroso - Soft Wook Sofa
The Soft Wood Sofa from Moroso is a master of optical illusions: It looks like a wooden bench, but it truly is upholstered and the wooden look only is refined clothing. The Swedish design team Front designed the Soft Wood. Its name is programme: Soft Wood looks like a rustic wooden bench on the first sight thanks to its natural wood grain. At detailed watching or even touching the illusion gets revealed, because the Soft Wood is a comfortable sofa. The cushioning of the Soft Wood appears in a realistic wood optic and its form was also a copy of a conventional wooden bench. With Soft Wood from Moroso the designers from Front experimented the difference between visual and tactile furniture characteristics. The result of this work is a surprising sofa with visual and functional style, which causes a sensation with its inspired design.

  • Moroso - Victoria and Albert Sofa

Moroso - Victoria and Albert Sofa
The collection Victoria and Albert emerged with the aim of connecting innovative design with comfort and a soft seat feeling. The concept is then completely different than the “cushioned sculptures” from Ron Arad that were presented in the Moroso catalogues for years. The Victoria and Albert sofa is ideally adapted to be used by more people and different events. The sofa shows a “good form” that can communicate design and function and knows how to connect enthusiasm for innovation and technology with a comfortable outstretched relax-position without following the “dictation of the giant cushion”. Also in this case the designer doesn’t want to create an icon, but a product that can be used normally and that offers a lot of comfort beside the aesthetic appearance. The name Victoria and Albert honours the famous London Museum that has an important exposition with selected works from Ron Arad since June of 2000. The huge success of the collection Victoria & Albert was the motivation for Moroso of researching material and technology more intensively, but without changing formal features. More details: The Victoria and Albert Sofa is also available in widths of 225 cm (Cod. 045), As well as high armrest on the right (Cod. 047) Or the left side (Cod. 048) And with different coloured fabrics. Regarding the fabrics selection and further information we will be glad to advise you by phone or via E-mail.

    Moroso Principessa Daybed
Design Doshi & Levien, 2008. Solid lacquered beech, polyurethane foam, upholstery. Made in Italy by Moroso. Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien have this to say about their new design: "We designed a new daybed, called Princess, with layers of mattresses. The top mattress is covered with a composition of different objects and since they draw inspiration from a modern princess they're embroidered in gold and silver". The Princess version, so called for the Princess and the Pea fairytale, has 6 or 11 mattresses one of top of the other with various colored edges. Nipa Doshi was born in 1971 into a Gujarati family of Mumbai. She graduated from the Royal College of Art, London and soon returned to India to work with local craftspeople. After a short stay she went back to London where she met Jonathan Levien, a Scot who had recently finished his master's in furniture design at the Royal College. The synergy between Nipa and Jonathan clicked immediately; in fact they set up Doshi Levien in 2000 and got married. The combination of the two cultures and creativities generated a very special, innovative design concept. Nipa's is heavily influenced by the visual culture and materials of India, Jonathan's is rooted in industrial design. Together, their work celebrates cultural hybridism and explores a combination of technology, narration and industrial & craft design. Pricipessa features a black lacquered (RAL 9005) solid beech base & feet. It is offered with either 6 or 11 stacked polyurethane foam mattresses with fabrics and colors of which the first is covered in a special silk Jacquard designed for Principessa. 6 mattress stack: 80" w | 39.25" d | floor to bottom of base: 10.25" h | floor to top of cushions: 21.75" h. 11 mattress stack: 80" w | 39.25" d | floor to bottom of base: 10.25" h | floor to top of cushions: 29.5" h.
