Woohyun was slowly eating dinner. Across long, oak table was sitting his father, owner of big company. Next to his right was sitting Woohyun's mother who was art director at prestigious magazine. They were rich enough for her to stay in home and do nothing but that wouldn't be in her style.
It was another quiet dinner. At Woohyun's house it was tradition to eat together so even though no one enjoy that time, they continue eating together.
To break the silence Woohyun's mother decided to talk about their sons problems.
"Your teacher called." She said. She thought that it was her mother's duty to care about his grades and school. "She said you're going to fail math."
"Well, I'm not the best at this subject..." Woohyun said playing with his rice.
"You're not the best at any subject. " His mother corrected him.
"Maybe I'm not created for academics. I'll inherit dad's company. And I'm handsome. I don't need education." Woohyun said with smile. His mother knew the same and wasn't really worried about his poor grades.
"I'm not going to give me company to that m.oron." Woohyun's father said.
"How did you called him?" Woohyun's mother couldn't believe in what she had heard.
"Don't pretend you don't see it; our son is stupid. And we spoiled him. He is stupid rich kid!"
"I'm not!" Woohyun, who was still sitting next to table, protested.
"Then prove it!"
Next day at school, Woohyun wasn't himself. His father's words hurt his pride deeply. He accepted the challenge to prove him that he's not stupid. But that meant improving grades from math.
Woohyun waited for occasion when any of his friends wasn't around and approached Bom working on her homework in the corner of classroom.
"Hi, Bagel Girl." He said with his charming smile.
"What do you want?"
"You're so smart."
"And I'm so stupid. What about helping me with math? Pretty pleaseeee!" Woohyun made blowfish face hoping that right dose of cuteness wouldhelp him to persuade girl.
Bom smiled slightly. "I need to think about it." She made a pause, pretending to think deeply. "What about: no."
"Please, please, please!"
"Meet me in hour in the library."
Bom could pretend she disliked boy but deep inside she liked him. Very much.
During she was teaching him math, she observed him above textbook, imagining he could be her first boyfriend. She squealed from happiness inside.
On the other hand, Woohyun was dying there: everything seemed to complicated. It seemed impossible for him to solve the simplest mathematical problem.
On his way home Woohyun was walking slowly. He could take taxi but he wanted to breathe fresh air. And get rid of terrible headache the math gave him.
When he was walking, a girl on skateboard almost bumped on him.
"Sorry." She quickly said, not even looking at him. She was sticking small poster to nearest fence.
Woohyun quickly read what was written on it.
"You're math tutor?" He asked the girl.
"Yeah; it's written on poster."
"I'll hire you."
"You?" She judged him quickly. "I don't think you can afford me." She said with smirk.
Woohyun came closer to her and whispered the amount of money he was going to pay for lessons. The girl's eyes shone.
"When you wish to have first lesson?"
Woohyun's mother was skeptically looking at the girl who was taking off her shoes in their corridor. Messy hairstyle sticking out from cap, shabby clothes, ripped tights: she didn't look like tutor. Definitely didn;t look like tutor her son was deserving.
Woohyun, on the other hand, was standing next to his mother, smiling. He leaded the girl to his room.
"You have awesome home, boy." She said sitting on black leather sofa.
"Woohyun." He introduced himself, still smiling.
"Nicole." The girl said. "So you're d.umb rich boy who can't understand math?" She asked.
"Yah, don't be rude. It's me who is paying you."
"Okay. I'll make you understand math, I'll make you like it, and most importantly I'll make you enjoy it."
Woohyun looked at girl, wondering how she's going to do it. She opened her bag and instead of taking textbooks from it, she took some box.
Woohyun was surprised when Nicole's lesson ended. Not only he had fun, he also didn't wanted it to end. He could not believe he didn't want math lesson to end.
Here's my new character; more about her in my next story!
