My mother is the girl in the middle. The photograph was taken on Lowestoft seafront in the early 1960s. Her friends were allowed to take her to the beach on one condition: they were not allowed to go for a paddle. A photographer from the local newspaper (The Lowestoft Journal) was on the beach at the time. He took this photograph because the girls were the first people paddling of that season. It appeared on the front cover and my poor mother got a good telling off from my gran! It didn't stop my gran from buying a copy of the photograph though!
