The tortoise jewelry is by Miriam Haskell.
My mother's family are all tea drinkers. I have a maroon teapot much like the one here that came from my father's side. Of course, they were all Scottish and Irish.
Inexplicably, my forebears were dog owners who completely eschewed cats. I was left on my own to discover my inherent cat affinity and am grateful that the whole thing did not end badly. The Irish setter here commemorates the first dog I remember. Her name was Patty. I was two years old and we were living in a cabin on Saranac Lake. To this day, one of the few beers I like is Saranac ale.
