Recently, I have been attempting to create a daily set featuring the holiday of the day.. Whether it be bizarre, national to a specific country, or global.
And today is National Chili Dog Day, here in the US, and July is Hot Dog Month.
I take the time to say this is a US holiday bc globally hot dogs aren't generally enjoyed, as much as they are, here in America. We have been raised with hot dogs, as a great substitute meat when the economy is rough, during festivals, sporting events, and even as a treat for children who are picky eaters; however, the traditional hot dog, and not the wonderful new all beef, all turkey, or veggie dogs, is really made up of the leftovers of the animal and not highly sought after in other countries (by the physical description, alone, I can understand why).
Today, tho, is a day of celebration, so find your favorite high quality hot dog (I personally love Nathan's from Coney Island, available at most grocery stores) and slop it up with some chili.
Below is a website with a couple recipes, if you are a novice to chili dogs :0)
