    hivemodern.com
Design Eero Saarinen, 1956. Aluminum base, laminate, marble, granite or veneer top. Made by Knoll. In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. "The underside of typical chairs and tables makes a confusing, unrestful world," explained Saarinen. "I wanted to clear up the slum of legs." In his pedestal collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award. Construction notes: Base is constructed from molded cast aluminum polished and coated in tough, abrasion-resistant rilsan finish (black & white). Platinum bases consist of a highly resilient polyurethane enamel wet coat with a clear satin finish. * laminate top: an exceptionally durable plastic surface. • Herman Miller® Nelson Thin Edge Buffet
    hivemodern.com
Design George Nelson™, 1952. Plywood, veneer, polished aluminum, metal. Made by Herman Miller® "Design is a response to social change." -George Nelson. Designed to look and feel exquisite, these cabinets, chests, and cases were produced in 1952 as application of George Nelson's continuing exploration of storage furniture, first introduced in 1945 in a Life magazine feature on his modular "Storagewall" concept. Originally called the Rosewood Group due to its use of rosewood veneer, this group was later renamed after the feature that gives it its aesthetic quality: the thin edge framing the doors and drawers. Fifty years since they were last available, the pieces are updated with environmentally sustainable veneers and finishing processes, including santos palisander, which shares - and honore - the rich personality of rosewood. The buffet unit features four drawers built of solid wood construction with soft closing slides and a two-door cabinet with two adjustable shelves. It's also available with polished aluminum legs with adjustable glides and your choice of two drawer/door pulls. Back panel can be requested finished to match or unfinished (matte black). Ships partially assembled, draw pulls need to be attached. This series consists of a buffet unit, chest of drawers, and a cabinet with doors. Please note: - walnut/dark brown combination, the case finish is walnut & drawers/door fronts are dark brown walnut. - white ash/walnut combination, the case finish is white ash & drawers/door fronts are walnut. Buffet: 18.5" d | 67" w | 28.6" h.

  • Fons 1 Light LED Floor Lamp By Cerno
    2modern.com
The goal with the Fons was to minimize the structure and visual massing of the fixture while maximizing the reach or cantilever. The delicate boom arm, upheld by a tension cable, gently bends while reaching out to almost horizontal where it suspends the light. The structural design is an extremely effective way to resolve the forces associated with such a long reach. It is so effective and efficient that it seems to float with a weightlessness at the tip. Features. Designed by Nick Sheridan. Handmade in California by Cerno. Type: Floor Lamp. Material: Walnut, aluminum, stainless steel cable, linen shade, powder coated steel base. The light not only washes up and down the wall but also filters out through the composition, exhibiting the fixture’s depth in three dimensions. Energy Efficient LED Light Source. • String Light Sphere Pendant Lamp By FLOS
    2modern.com
String Lights look at a different concept of dividing space architecturally. They are inspired by three things: when I sit on a train, travelling, and I look out of the window, I always see these strings of electricity that connect the pylons. And as we move through at high speed, I see these perfectly parallel strings and find myself transfixed by the amazing sense of discipline — how can this be pos-sible? It’s just so beautiful, and so poetic the way they connect the pylons whilst at the same time they divide the landscape. I wanted to translate this this vision and this discipline into an interior environment. They are like linear drawings. I like how people use light to demarcate space, especially outdoor space, if you think of a village square in the Mediterranean at night, they have a string of lights that hang in a square from four posts. They seem to announce: -This is where the party is”. It is these lights that demarcate the activity. And then the last thing, which is the most practical one, is how to move lights when electricitypoints are always where you least want them to be.So how do you take them where you want them in an effortless and poetic way? Instruction for how to order: String Lights allow you to create a visual sculpture as a well as suspend pendants from where you would like to, independent of the junction box placement. To order a complete unit you will need to choose from one or two pendants, then choose the Ceiling or Wall Canopy or the Floor base with switch (both the ceiling/wall canopy and floor base can feed up to two pendants). Each pendant is supplied with a wall mounting kit (hooks) for stringing the cable. An optional Extra Connnection Cable is available, this will allow you to set up turns for further custom configurations. Features. Designed by Michael Anastassiades, 2014. Materials: Matt black varnished die-cast aluminum body coated with clear soft-touch varnish. Optical diffuser in opal PC. Type: Pendant Light. Suspension system of 12 or 22 meters with Kevlar reinforced coaxial cable (the fixture should be relaxed and then re-tightened 24-hours after installation) Finish color: Black. Specifications: Dimensions (inches): Overall: 7.5Dia x 6.3H. Sphere (12m): Cable Length: 472. Sphere (22m): Cable Length: 866. Lamp type: LED.
